FT. WORTH, Texas -- For the first time since 1995-96, the TCU men's basketball team will close out the year on the road with a trip to SMU on Friday night. The game between the longtime rivals will be showcased on College Sports Television (CSTV) at 8:30 p.m. Central.
It will be the 181st meeting between the one-time Southwest Conference members with TCU trailing the series 98-82.

Announcers Rich Waltz and Pete Gillen will serve as the play-by-play and analyst for the game.
RADIO: WBAP-AM 820 in Ft. Worth/Dallas

ABOUT THE GAME:
• Longtime rivals and one-time Southwest Conference members TCU and SMU will hammer it out on the court for the 181st time. With the exception of 1920 and the 2003-04 season, the two teams have played each other at least twice since the series began in 1919.
• The Frogs have played the Mustangs more than any other school in the 95 years of TCU basketball. TCU trails the series 98-82.
• TCU will wrap up the 2005 year on the road, playing at SMU. In addition, the Ponies are the last Texas opponent on the Frogs' slate. TCU is 1-3 on the year against in-state foes and 15-10 all-time under TCU head coach Neil Dougherty.
• Both TCU and SMU joined new conferences this year. The Horned Frogs made their move to the Mountain West Conference while the Mustangs, a member of the Western Athletic Conference since 1996-97, leaped to TCU's former league affiliation Conference USA.
• The series with SMU will be played in Dallas a total of 93 times with TCU currently 31-60 on the Mustang's home court. Only four times have the two teams met elsewhere besides Fort Worth or Dallas - Houston (1954, 1956 and 1958) and Las Vegas (1998).
• The Horned Frogs have won six of the last seven and 13 of the last 15 meetings against SMU.
•The Ponies are the Frogs' second opponent from Conference USA this year. TCU fell to Tulane in College Station, Texas, on Nov. 30 in a hard-fought battle, 56-52.
• SMU head coach Jimmy Tubbs is in his second year at the helm of the Mustang program. It will be the second year in a row and third time in the Dougherty era that the two head coaches face off on the hardwood.
• Dougherty and Tubbs are definitely no strangers to each other in the coaching world. The two coaches first paced opposing sidelines when Dougherty was an assistant at Vanderbilt while Tubbs served in the same role at SMU. Tubbs, who was an SMU assistant coach from 1990-91 to 2001-02, met Dougherty again in 1996 at Kansas. Tubbs' record stands at 0-4 during his assistant days against Dougherty.
• TCU assistant coach Kevin "Ice" Lewis returns to familiar grounds when he faces his alma mater. Lewis, who currently sits at 33rd in SMU's record book for career points, played for the Ponies from 1983 to 1986.
LAST TIME OUT: at TCU 79, Grambling State 64
• TCU now leads the overall series against the Tigers, 7-0.
• This is the sixth straight time that TCU has defeated Grambling State by 15 or more points.
• Tonight's 15-point win ranks as the second-largest margin of victory the Horned Frogs have defeated their opponent for the 2005-06 season. The highest margin of victory came on Dec. 18, 2005 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff with a 17-point difference.
• The Horned Frogs remain undefeated against Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) teams played this season with an all-time 11-0 record against Jackson State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Grambling State.
• This is the 12th consecutive game that at least two Horned Frogs have scored in double figures.
• Guard Brent Hackett posted a career high with 21 points. He also broke an individual game high for most three's in a game with five. The most Hackett had recorded this season was four on Dec. 22 against Colorado.
• Hackett tied his career for field goals made in a game with seven.
• Forward Judson Stubbs scored double figures for the seventh time this season, recording 18 points.
• Stubbs was one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing the night with 18 points and nine boards.
• Guard Nile Murry extended his streak to 14 consecutive games where he has scored in double figures. Murry ended the night with 16 points. The 14 dates back to last season and includes all 12 games this season.
• Forward Chudi Chinweze started for the first time this season. The last time Chinweze started for the Horned Frogs came on Dec. 9, 2004, when he suffered a season-ending knee injury at Kansas.
