ABOUT THE GAME
TCU and Grambling State will meet for the seventh time with the Horned Frogs undefeated against GSU. In addition, the Frogs have home court advantage as all seven meetings with Grambling have taken place in Fort Worth.
The Frogs will battle their last opponent from the Southwestern Athletic Conference in 2005-06. TCU is 2-0 this year against SWAC teams and 6-0 under head coach Neil Dougherty. TCU boasts an all-time 15-1 record against schools from the SWAC.
Wednesday's contest marks exactly one year from the date the two teams met on the court. TCU and GSU have faced off every year since 1999 with the exception of the 2000-01 season.
In addition, the game against the GSU Tigers is the final contest of a five-game homestand for TCU.
Head coach Larry White, Sr., enters his sixth season at the helm of the Grambling State program. White's current coaching record stands at 57-118 on the year.
Both TCU and GSU favor 3-pointers, as the two teams currently average 7.5 per contest apiece. In fact, GSU is the second opponent this year that the Frogs have entered a contest averaging the same number of 3-pointers as their foe. Colorado was the other team.
The top three scorers for TCU and Grambling each have something in common - they come from the senior, junior and sophomore classes.
The Frogs are paced by senior Nile Murry, followed by sophomore Brent Hackett and then junior Judson Stubbs.
Leading the Tigers are senior Brion Rush (23.7 ppg) with junior Anthony Williams at second with 12.4 points per game and sophomore Andre' Williams close behind at 12.0.
Four SWAC opponents have been TCU's 100-point victims over the years, which includes Alabama State (twice), UAPB, Grambling State (three times) and Mississippi Valley State.
The last 100+ game for TCU came in Dougherty's inaugural year (2002-03). In fact, there were two 100+ games that season. Both were back-to-back 100+ point wins at home for the Frogs against Grambling State (103-84) and Centenary (102-89).
LAST TIME OUT: Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 55, at TCU 49
Senior Nile Murry finished with 13 points to continue his double-figure scoring streak. He has extended his streak to 13 straight, including all 11 games this season.
Murry also remains the lone player in the Mountain West with the current longest double-digit scoring streak this year.
Brent Hackett turned in his third best career scoring performance as he paced the Horned Frogs with 18 points. He has scored in double digits seven times this year, including the last five.
Forward Chudi Chinweze pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds. The last time he grabbed the most boards in a game was against Texas Tech at home last year.
TCU posted its lowest field goal shooting percentage in school history with 16 percent (4-of-25) in the first half. In addition, the 13 points in the opening stanza was the second-lowest output by a Horned Frog team ever.
