Horned Frogs await top-10 matchup in Fort Worth
FORT WORTH – Two familiar opponents will meet for the second time this season, as the TCU women's tennis team will open Big 12 play against No. 6 Arizona State on Friday at 4:30 p.m. at the outdoor Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
After dropping the first match of the season, TCU has rattled off six consecutive sweeps, posting a 24-0 score differential over those matches. The Frogs have not come in danger of losing a single court throughout the stretch, earning 19 singles wins and 10 doubles courts.
Yu-Chin Tsai has been the star in singles play for the Frogs, securing an undefeated record of 5-0 in dual matches heading into conference play. Freshman Jennifer Jackson has also been solid, posting a 3-1 record in her first season in Fort Worth.
The doubles pairing of Jackson and Raquel Caballero Chica has notched a 5-0 record, earning a pair of wins at the No. 1 court and three victories on court two.
SCOUTING THE SUN DEVILS
After the opening match of ITA Kickoff Weekend was moved to Fort Worth, TCU hosted the Sun Devils on Jan. 26, where Arizona State took a 4-2 victory. Since then, the Sun Devils have secured an 8-2 record heading into the Big 12 opener.
Emilija Tverijonaite and Vivian Ovrootsky have been rock solid for Arizona State so far in dual singles play, both securing a combined perfect 14-0 record.
FROGS MOVING UP
After a pair of sweeps over No. 31 UCSB and Portland last week, TCU moved from 38th-ranked to No. 33 in the ITA rankings. The Frogs will face off against their highest ranked opponent since Jan. 25, 2025, when they played against second-ranked Texas A&M.
