Horned Frogs record highest-ranked victory in nearly a decade
FORT WORTH – The TCU women's tennis team secured a 4-0 sweep over No. 6 Arizona State on Friday at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
After dropping the season-opener to Arizona State, the two teams faced off in the Big 12 opener. TCU (7-1, 1-0 Big 12), got revenge against the Sun Devils, completing the match in just over two hours and easily securing a 4-0 victory and a top-10 victory.
This marks the third straight year that TCU has opened conference play with a win, defeating West Virginia in the Big 12-opening match the previous two seasons.
TOP-10 DUBS
With today's win over the No. 6 Sun Devils, TCU secured its highest-ranked win since taking down seventh-ranked Texas Tech on April 15, 2017, in Lubbock.
DOUBLES RUNDOWN
To start things out, the doubles point saw nothing but complete success and dominance for TCU.
Yu-Chin Tsai and Victoria Gomez O'Hayon opened by cruising to a 6-0 victory at the No. 1 court against Sara Svetac and Vivian Ovrootsky.
Raquel Caballero Chica and Jennifer Jackson would face minimal resistance on court two, defeating Aiya Nupbay and Lily Taylor, 6-1, to clinch the doubles point and a 1-0 lead into into singles play for TCU.
Cayetana Gay and Tomi Main were up in their matchup, 4-3, before the point was clinched and play concluded.
This marked the seventh-straight match the Frogs have won the doubles point, doing so in every match this year besides the season-opener against the Sun Devils.

Order of Finish: 1, 2
SINIGLES RUNDOWN
Like doubles play, singles saw very similar results. The Frogs were able to earn three quick and decisive wins, including one ranked victory, to put the Sun Devils away and come out of the match with a quick triumph.
Caballero Chica captured a top-20 victory against Emilija Tverijonaite, defeating her in two sets, 6-2, 6-1 to extend the lead to 2-0 in singles.
Tsai, who has started off the dual season undefeated in singles, continued her winning ways, knocking off Lily Taylor, 6-4, 6-1.
Gay would put a bow on things, as she recorded a 6-2, 6-2, triumph over Sarang Lim at the No. 6 spot to clinch the match for TCU.
