No. 17 TCU earns pivotal 83-67 win over No. 12 Baylor in Waco
WACO, Texas – Behind one of the greatest single-game performances the Big 12 has seen, No. 17 TCU is again a live dog in the race for the conference championship.
Olivia Miles hung 40 points on No. 12 Baylor as the Horned Frogs routed the Bears 83-67 on Thursday in Foster Pavilion.
Miles finished 10-20 from downtown. She drilled seven 3-pointers and netted 23 points in the third quarter alone.
Playing Robin to Miles' Batman was Marta Suarez. The duo scored as many points as Baylor (21-5, 10-3 Big 12) did collectively, as Suarez matched her career-high with 27 points
TCU (22-4, 10-3 Big 12) posted its largest margin of victory in a ranked road matchup in program history. With the win, the Horned Frogs now trail No. 19 West Virginia (21-5, 11-3 Big 12) by a half game for first place in the Big 12 standings ahead of the teams' Sunday night showdown in Fort Worth.
The victory also reinforced a changing of the guard in the Big 12. Baylor, which won 12 straight league titles from 2011-22, enjoyed a 37-game winning streak over TCU from 1990 up until last season. The joint effort with Suarez was equally significant. Their 67 combined points were the most by a pair of teammates in a Big 12 game opposite a ranked opponent in league history. The two players became one of only two teammate tandems in college basketball to each tally 25-plus vs. a ranked team in the same game in 2025-26.
TCU knocked down 15-29 looks from distance – tied for its most ever in a Big 12 game – in a contest it led for nearly 39 minutes. The Frogs never trailed sans a 12-10 hole midway through the first quarter.
Miles and Suarez scored eight points apiece in the first quarter. TCU closed on an 11-0 run to assume a 21-12 edge.
TCU later took its largest lead of the first half at 28-17 with 5:13 to go in the second. Suarez tallied 15 points before entering the locker room.
Baylor whittled the Horned Frogs' lead down to 36-32 at the break.
Miles was responsible for all-but-two of TCU's 25 points in the third quarter as TCU widened its lead to 61-48 entering the final frame.
The death kneel for Baylor came with just over five minutes remaining in the fourth. Back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers from Donovyn Hunter (6 points, 5 rebounds), Miles and Suarez gave TCU its first 20-point lead at 75-54. Both teams slowly pulled their starters from that point on.
TCU outrebounded Baylor 39-32. Clara Silva led all players with eight rebounds while Miles and Suarez snagged six boards apiece.
