Fifth-ranked TCU faces No. 17 LSU in opening round on Friday in Waco
FORT WORTH – No team has ever played for five straight indoor national titles, and TCU looks to become the first at the 2026 ITA Indoor National Championships.
The fifth-ranked Horned Frogs open the 16-team affair vs. No. 17 LSU at 9 a.m. on Friday at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
TCU was awarded the 2-seed at the Waco site. The Frogs will factor into an all-Lone Star State affair in their second match on Saturday opposite either No. 6 Texas or No. 8 Texas A&M.
All participating teams are guaranteed three matches. The ITA Indoor National Championships are jointly hosted by Baylor and SMU. Semifinal matches and the championship take place on Monday and Tuesday in Dallas at the Styslinger / Altec Tennis Complex.
TCU plays its quarterfinal dual at noon on Saturday with a win over the Tigers. A loss in either of its opening round matches means the Horned Frogs will stay in Waco for a consolation match on Sunday.
The opposite half of the Waco site draw features No. 3 Wake Forest, No. 9 UCF, No. 19 Baylor and UC Santa Barbara.
The Horned Frogs hold a 16-5 edge over LSU in the all-time series. It's been nearly a decade since the programs last collided on the hardcourts. TCU shut out the Tigers 4-0 on May 14, 2016 in Fort Worth in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in their last meeting.
TCU is competing in the flagship indoor event for the ninth consecutive year. The Frogs won back-to-back indoor national championships in 2022 and 2023 and finished as the runner up in each of the past two seasons.
