No. 12 TCU falls 62-60 to 21st-ranked Lady Raiders
LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 12 TCU again found itself on the wrong end of a one-possession game in a 'ranked vs. ranked' matchup on Sunday, dropping a 62-60 decision to No. 21 Texas Tech at United Supermarkets arena.
Snudda Collins buried a go-ahead 3-pointer with 32 seconds remaining to put the Lady Raiders in front 58-55. Texas Tech (21-3, 8-3 Big 12) never led by more than one possession until the final seconds of the contest.
Collins scored 10 of her game-high 28 points over the final 3:43.
A transition three from Maddie Scherr, who returned from a two-week injury absence, staked TCU to a 50-44 edge at the 5:30 mark of the fourth. The Lady Raiders responded with a 10-2 run capped off by five straight points to go in front. TCU never again led.
Trailing 60-57 with 16 seconds left, a box curl 3-point attempt by Olivia Miles from the right key rimmed out. Texas Tech hit three of its final five free throw attempts to ice the game.
TCU dropped to 20-3 overall and 8-2 in the league play with the defeat. By virtue of No. 14 Baylor's loss at West Virginia earlier in the day, the Horned Frogs still hold a share of first in the Big 12 standings ahead of a home tilt vs. last-place Houston on Wednesday at Schollmaier Arena.
TCU held the Lady Raiders to 32 percent shooting (20-62) and their second-fewest points in a game all season. Outside of Collins, the Lady Raiders mustered 11 field goals total and just six inside the arc.
Texas Tech put up 26 in the final frame, though, wiping away nearly 32 minutes of lead time for the Horned Frogs.
TCU was outrebounded 46-34 and allowed a season-high 15 offensive rebounds.
Texas Tech turned 11 offensive rebounds in the first half into nine second half points. The extra possessions prevented TCU from separating in the early going as the Horned Frogs took a 24-22 lead into the locker room.
The Frogs hit seven of their last nine field goals in the third to take a four-point edge into the final frame. Taylor Bigby buried a three on TCU's first trip down the court and nudged TCU further ahead 43-46. The seven-point lead was the largest of the afternoon for either side.
Marta Suarez posted a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double.
Miles finished with 15 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Donovyn Hunter added 11 points on 5-9 shooting.
TCU connected at a 53 percent clip from the floor (15-28) in the second half but connected on only five attempts from distance for the game.
The Horned Frogs finished with eight assists, their second fewest in a game in 2025-26.
