Horned Frogs look to maintain share of first place in Big 12 standings

FORT WORTH – No. 9 TCU travels to the east coast for the third time in a 10-day span to face UCF at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday at Addition Financial Arena.

The Horned Frogs will maintain a share of first place in the conference standings with a victory over the Knights, whom they have never lost to.

TCU defeated UCF 92-52 on Dec. 21, 2024 in its most recent visit to Orlando.

Frog Focus

The Horned Frogs garnered their 19th AP Top 10 ranking on Monday, all of which have materialized since December of 2024.
TCU is one of eight teams featuring in the top-10 of the AP Top 25, USA Today Sports Coaches' Poll (No. 9) and NCAA NET rankings (No. 10). The Horned Frogs have been the Big 12's highest-rated team in all three evaluations and have maintained a top-10 billing in each for all-but-one week dating back to Nov. 17.
TCU has morphed into one of college basketball's winningest programs under head coach Mark Campbell. Since Campbell took the reins in 2023-24, the Horned Frogs have notched the seventh-most wins (73) of any Division I program. Among Power Conference teams, only South Carolina (92), UConn (89), Texas (87), LSU (79) and UCLA (78) have won more games than the Frogs over the last three seasons.
TCU is aiming to become the Big 12's first repeat regular season champion in four seasons and the first team in league history to win two Big 12 titles within three seasons of finishing in last place.
TCU leads college basketball in field goal percentage defense (.321).
TCU has held 15 of its last 22 opponents in league play below 40 percent shooting. The Horned Frogs are undefeated in those games.
All-but-two opposing teams have failed to break 40 percent shooting vs. TCU this year.
The Horned Frogs have held an NCAA-leading nine opponents below 30 percent shooting from the field while 12 opponents have been unable to connect above a 33 percent clip.

TCU, alongside No. 1 UConn, No. 2 South Carolina and No. 4 Texas, is one of only four teams nationwide scoring at least 80 points per game while allowing less than 55.
The Horned Frogs and Gamecocks are the only teams in the country shooting it better than 48 percent from the floor while keeping their opponents below 33 percent.
The Horned Frogs have racked up the third-most blocks (495) of any team in college hoops over the last three seasons.
TCU has tallied at least six blocks in 13 conference games over the last three years.
Clara Silva (1.9 bpg) and Kennedy Basham (1.7 bpg) give TCU one of only five teammate tandems in the country averaging at least 1.5 blocks per night.

TCU's projected starting five of Olivia Miles, Marta Suarez, Donovyn Hunter, Clara Silva and Taylor Bigby is the fifth highest-scoring unit in college basketball at 64.8 points per game. Only South Carolina (74.2 ppg), Oklahoma (69.8 ppg), UCLA (68.6 ppg) and Notre Dame (68 ppg) have higher scoring lineups.
Miles, Suarez and Silva are one of only five threesomes in the country each averaging at least 10 points and six rebounds per game.
TCU has received a 20-point performance by Miles, Suarez or Hunter in 12 games.
Either Miles or Silva has finished as TCU's leading scorer in 10 straight games.
Miles and Suarez are one of only two duos in the Big 12 averaging at least 15 points per game.

The five players are responsible for 91 percent of TCU's total 3-point offense (173-190). The quintet is averaging 8.7 threes per game.
TCU ranks second only to Richmond in total 3-pointers over the last three seasons with 856. The Horned Frogs are on pace to become only the eighth program in NCAA history to knock down 1,000 threes in a three-season span.
The Frogs and Spiders are the only programs ranking in the top-10 nationally in 3-point field goals (2nd, 848), 3-point field goals per game (6th, 9.4) and 3-point percentage (6th, .369) since 2023-24.
Hitting nine 3-pointers is often the magic number for TCU. The Horned Frogs are 48-6 over the last three seasons when connecting at least nine times from distance. TCU has ticked the box in 12-of-20 games this season and in 59 percent of their conference contests (13-22) since 2024-25.
If have been any constants in the Horned Frogs' losses, it's the turnover battle and efficiency from the field. TCU has given the ball away at least 20 times in half of its defeats (3-of-6) and is averaging 17.3 turnovers per game in losing efforts since 2024-25. TCU has not shot better than 40 percent from the field in any of its losses over the last two seasons.

Olivia Miles

Posted her seventh double-double of the season and 32nd of her career vs. No. 12 Ohio State on Monday; finished with 24 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.
Leads all Division I guards in career double-doubles and all active Division I players in career assists per game average (6.6), triple-doubles (10) and '15-5-5' games (36).
Will dish out her 800th career assist with her first dime vs. UCF and become only the sixth player in NCAA history to tally at least 1,500 points, 800 assists and 700 rebounds.
Has led TCU in scoring in six straight games.
Scored at least 20 points for the sixth time in her last nine starts on Monday.
On pace to become the first men's or women's player in NCAA history to average at least 19 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 50 percent from the field.

Has averaged 10.7 points per game over her last 31 outings since rejoining TCU's starting five on Feb. 19; was averaging 5.2 points per game prior to that moment.
Tallied 12 points on 5-7 shooting in TCU's 90-81 victory against UCF on Jan. 14, 2025 in the teams' most recent meeting.

Taylor Bigby

Has increased her scoring average to 8.6 points per game over her last five outings.
