FORT WORTH – After a successful weekend at the Corky Classic, TCU track and field is going split squad, sending field events to the JD Martin Invitational on Jan. 22 and running events to the Ted Nelson Invitational on Jan. 24.
With winter weather expected, the schedule for the JD Martin Invitational was altered. The hosts, University of Oklahoma, pushed competition up one day, meaning the Frogs contingent of field events will compete on Thursday. A total of 13 athletes will head up the road to represent TCU in Norman, including pole vaulter Ben Kirbo who won the event at the OU Winter Field Fest just over a month ago. He will be joined by fellow throwers and jumpers. Action is slated to begin at 11 a.m. CT with the women's shot put.
The rest of the team will travel south to Texas A&M over the weekend for the Ted Nelson Invitational. Racing on Saturday, 32 Frogs will compete on the track starting at 12 p.m. Georgia Scott, who won both the mile and 800m last weekend will highlight TCU once again as well as reigning indoor 200m National Champion Indya Mayberry who is set to make her indoor season debut.
