KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A trip to the Great Smokey Mountains resulted in a shutout victory for No. 3 TCU, as the Horned Frogs cruised to a 4-0 decision over Tennessee on Monday at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
TCU (2-1) locked up the doubles point and posted convincing singles sweeps on courts two, four and five to put away the Volunteers (0-2) in short order.
The victory was TCU's fourth straight over Tennessee, who TCU defeated to win the 2022 ITA Indoor National Championship, and 21st shutout victory on the indoor surfaces over the last five seasons.
Cosme Rolland De Ravel was the leading point scorer for the Horned Frogs. TCU's lone senior, Rolland De Ravel was victorious on court two in both singles and doubles.
Cooper Woestendick earned the match clincher via a 6-3, 6-1 walloping of Ethan Muza on court four.
Doubles Rundown
Tennessee – the last team to defeat TCU in doubles at the indoor Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center – again gave the Horned Frogs a run for their money to begin the match.
The Volunteers struck first, with Dragus Cazucu and Piotr Siekanowicz upsetting Woestendick and Oliver Bonding 6-3 on court one.
Rolland De Ravel and Duncan Chan, the ITA No. 23 doubles tandem, evened the score with a 6-4 takedown of Jose Garcia and Boruch Skierkier on court two.
The action came down to court three, where Filip Apltauer and Maximus Dussault found a late break to close out Alejandro Moreno and Muza, 6-4.
TCU improved to 3-0 in doubles play on the young season and claimed its 17th doubles point in its last 19 indoor matches. The Horned Frogs have lost just twice in the last three seasons when securing a 1-0 head start.
Apltauer, who transferred to TCU from Tennessee in 2024, notched his team-leading third dual doubles win of the season and second with a different partner. He and the freshman Dussault partnered for the first time.
Chan and Rolland De Ravel remain undefeated as a pair at 7-0. Four of their wins have come at the expense of ranked teams.
Bonding and Woestendick played the No. 1 for the second consecutive match. The freshman Bonding has earned the nod on the top court in all three matches.
