TCU to face all Big 12 opponents in Arizona
TUSCON, Ariz. – No. 1 TCU Beach Volleyball (15-3) heads west this weekend to compete at the Wildcat Spring Challenge on Friday and Saturday. The Horned Frogs will go head-to-head with Pepperdine, followed by match ups against all their Big 12 Conference opponents: Utah, Arizona and No. 12 Arizona State. TCU has only seen the Sun Devils this season, which the Frogs won 4-1 on Feb. 21.
Heading into this weekend, the Sandy Frogs are sitting on top of the AVCA Coaches Poll with their first No. 1 ranking since 2023. TCU improved its overall record to 15-3 following last weekend's play, with three more ranked wins under its belt: No. 5 Stanford, No. 9 LBSU and No. 1 UCLA.
Allanis Navas and Sofia Izuzquiza swept the pair of the week accolades, notching both the national AVCA/CBVB and Big 12 Conference honors. The pairing has held a 10-0 record in the No. 3 position starting March 7 and have only dropped one set together since, which came on March 8 vs. Texas.
Individually, Navas and Anhelina Khmil are on the hunt for different career win milestones. After notching her 97th win against No. 1 UCLA, Navas has the potential to hit 100 career wins this weekend. Sitting at 72 wins, Khmil could notch her 75-career wins milestone.
Head Coach Hector Gutierrez has 203 career wins following the Death Volley Invitational. This weekend he could hit 207 wins since being named head coach in 2017.
