TCU never trails and picks up 14th home win
FORT WORTH – TCU led from start to finish in an 89-78 win over UCF Saturday afternoon at Schollmaier Arena.
Vasean Allette led five Horned Frogs in double figures with 17 points and added seven rebounds and tied a career-high with nine assists. Ernest Udeh Jr. recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The Horned Frogs (16-13, 9-9) made six of their first eight shots and jumped out to a 15-4 lead. Later in the half, TCU went on an 18-3 run to achieve its largest lead, 43-40, with 4:51 to go in the half. The Frogs shot 51.2 percent from the field and led 49-30 in the first half, their highest-scoring first half since the season-opener.
TCU maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half until Darius Johnson hit a layup to bring the Knights (15-14, 6-12) to within nine points, 82-73, with three minutes to play. Both teams struggled on offense towards the end of the game as UCF made one of its last nine shots from the field and TCU failed to make a field goal in the final 3:33.
The 89 points was TCU's highest point total since scoring 105 in the season-opener against Florida A&M.
Other Horned Frogs in double figures were freshman David Punch with 14 points, freshman Micah Robinson with 12 and redshirt freshman Jace Posey with 10.
TCU will wrap up the home schedule on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Baylor. The game will air on ESPN+.
TEAM NOTES
- TCU improved to 2-2 all-time against UCF and 1-1 against the Knights in Fort Worth.
- Jamie Dixon moved to 3-2 all-time against the Knights.
- TCU improved to 14-2 at home this season and has won the last four games in Schollmaier Arena.
- Under Dixon, the Frogs improved to 116-40 at home and 46-34 at home in Big 12 games.
- TCU improved to 9-9 in the Big 12 Conference, matching its most wins in the league. The Frogs went 9-9 in each of the last two seasons and also in 2018.

- TCU's starting lineup of Vasean Allette, Jace Posey, David Punch, Noah Reynolds and Ernest Udeh Jr. was its seventh different starting lineup this season.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- Vasean Allette led the team in scoring with 17 points and assists with a season-high nine. Nine assists also tied a career-high, which also occurred on Jan. 11, 2024 at Georgia State. It was Allette's ninth time leading TCU in assists.
- Ernest Udeh Jr. recorded his sixth double-double of the season and the seventh of his career with 16 points and 11 rebounds. His 16 points tied a career high, which he also had at Baylor this season.
- Udeh was 6-for-6 from the field which was a career high for made field goals.
- Freshman David Punch scored in double figures for the fifth time with 14 points.
- Punch tied a career high with eight rebounds and added three blocked shots.
- Freshman Micah Robinson reached double figures for the fifth time with 12 points. He was 5-of-9 from the field which was a career high for makes and attempts.
- Robinson tied a career high with five rebounds.
- Freshman Malick Diallo had a career-high four blocked shots. The most he had blocked in one game prior to Saturday was one shot and did so 11 times.
- Trazarien White scored nine points but was 0-for-4 from 3-point range, breaking his 3-point streak at seven-straight games.
- Redshirt freshman Jace Posey made his first career start. His 10 points was his third game in double figures.
- Noah Reynolds was 3-of-8 from 3-point range for nine points. It was his second time this season making a season-high three 3-pointers in a game.
