Annual accolade honors the nation's top shooting guard
FORT WORTH – Madison Conner has earned her place on the list of America's most dynamic guards.
Conner was announced as one of 10 finalists for the Ann Meyers-Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year Award on Tuesday by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
The honor marks the first time Conner, a fifth-year senior, has received late-season consideration for a Naismith Starting 5 accolade. She and Hailey Van Lith were tabbed to the Drysdale Award preseason watch list in October.
Conner is the third player in program history to be named a Drysdale Award finalist, joining TCU Athletics Hall of Fame members Adrianne Ross (2009) and Helena Sverrisdóttir (2011).
By a number of metrics, Conner has been the best volume shooter in the country in 2024-25. She tops the D1 ranks in 3-pointers (83) and ranks second in 3-pointers per game (3.6).. She ranks fifth across the D1 landscape in both 3-pointers per 100 possessions (6.5) and 3-pointers per 40 minutes (4.5). Her season 3-point percentage (.456) ranks sixth in the country among players who have made at least 60 three-pointers.
She is connecting at a 48 percent clip from distance (61-129) over TCU's last 13 games, averaging 4.7 three-pointers per game in that span. Conner tops the national charts in games with at least four 3-pointers with 13.
Now in her second season with the TCU program, Conner is flourishing as a playmaking guard within the Horned Frogs' spread pick-n-roll offense. She has produced a 2.6 assist-to-turnover ratio in conference play, the second-best mark among all Big 12 players. Conner has increased her assist-per-game average in league games to 4.6 from 3.0 in 2023-24. She has finished with five-plus assists on eight occasions.
Conner was one of two Big 12 guards to crack the finalists list alongside JJ Quinerly of West Virginia.
