No. 8 TCU coasts past Jacksonville 89-49 for 32nd consecutive home win
FORT WORTH – History unfolded in real time on Sunday at Schollmaier Arena.
Olivia Miles became the first Big 12 player to post a triple-double in consecutive games as No. 8 TCU walloped Jacksonville 89-49.
Miles tallied 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in the Horned Frogs' penultimate home nonconference affair.
She had the triple-double – the eighth of her career – locked up in 28 minutes of game time.
Miles' final stat line was nearly identical to her performance in TCU's most recent outing, a 94-40 win over UTEP on Dec. 6. The graduate guard recorded 15 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds vs. the Miners.
A product of Phillipsburg, N.J., Miles now ranks fifth outright in NCAA history for career triple-doubles.
Miles now owns two of the five triple-doubles turned in across 49 seasons of TCU women's basketball. Prior to Miles' exploits vs. UTEP, the Horned Frogs last bore witness to a triple-double in 2011.
She delivered back-to-back triple-doubles for the second time as a collegian vs. the Dolphins (7-2). Miles notched two straight triple-doubles vs. Loyola (MD) and Virginia in December of 2024 during her final season at Notre Dame.
Behind Miles, TCU rumbled ahead to its second 11-0 start to a season under head coach Mark Campbell. The Horned Frogs remain one of only 12 unbeatens across the Division I ranks.
TCU outscored the Dolphins 56-23 in the second half to coast to the finish line. A 14-0 run midway through the third quarter ballooned the scoreboard to 50-28 in favor of the Frogs with 3:54 remaining in the frame. TCU then rattled off 16 unanswered points to start the fourth quarter.
Miles was not the only Horned Frog to carve out a slice of history.
Clara Silva paired 21 points on 10-10 shooting with 10 rebounds en route to her second double-double of the season and her career. Silva became the first player in program history to finish 10-10 from the floor. The 6-7 sophomore scored 20-plus for the first time.
Marta Suarez gave TCU 15 points, including 12 the second half, while Donovyn Hunter and Kennedy Basham each pitched in nine.
Though the offense revved its engine – TCU has scored 80-plus in nine of its 11 wins – it was the Horned Frogs prowess at the other end of the floor that won the day early on.
TCU held Jacksonville to 21 percent shooting (12-57) and surrendered just one 3-pointer. The Dolphins scored 24 of their points at the charity stripe.
The stout effort enabled TCU to stay in front in the early going. TCU never trailed and led for all-but-34 seconds but found itself ahead by just two possessions at 31-26 with 1:07 to go in the second quarter. The Horned Frogs endured three spells of more than three minutes without a field goal in the game's opening 20 minutes. TCU shot below 40 percent from the field for the first time all season.
Silva did yeoman's work, tallying 15 of her points in the first half. She was responsible for 11 of TCU's first 19 points.
TCU knocked down nine 3-pointers out of the intermission.
Basham finished with seven rebounds and led all players with four blocks.
Maddie Scherr gave TCU eight rebounds, six points and five assists.
TCU snagged a season-high 53 rebounds and finished with a 46-16 advantage in points in the paint.
Mychal White led the Dolphins with 17 points.
