Horned Frogs to face Richmond, UAB over the Thanksgiving holiday

FORT WORTH – No. 8 TCU will spend the Thanksgiving holiday and play two games south of the border at the Cancun Challenge.

The Horned Frogs battle Richmond at 8 p.m. CT on Thursday, followed by a 5:30 p.m. CT tilt on Friday vs. UAB.

Both games take place at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera May and will stream live on FloCollege

Opening Tip

TCU is playing on Thanksgiving Day for the seventh time in its 49-year history. The Frogs most recently played Thanksgiving hoops on Nov. 23, 2023 vs. UTEP in the St. Pete Showcase. TCU won the game 85-56.
The Horned Frogs are 2-4 all-time in Turkey Day tussles.
TCU holds a 31-25 all-time record in games played over Thanksgiving weekend.
TCU is competing outside the United States for the eighth time in program history.
TCU's trip to Cancun marks the program's second-ever visit to Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. The Horned Frogs visited Quintana Roo in November of 2005 for the Caribbean Classic. TCU was in its first season of Mountain West Conference membership that year.
TCU is 22-0 in the month of November under head coach Mark Campbell.
The Horned Frogs are 30-1 in nonconference play over the last three seasons.

TCU has had at least four players score in double figures in all six of its victories. Miles and Hunter have scored 10-plus in every game.
Suarez (19 ppg), Miles (18.3 ppg) and Hunter (14.2 ppg) make TCU one of just 12 teams nationwide with three players averaging at least 14 points per game.
Suarez and Miles are one of six D1 duos scoring at least 18 points per night.

Olivia Miles

Miles is the only player in college basketball averaging at least 15 points, seven assists and six rebounds per game.
Miles has tallied an NCAA-leading four '15-5'5' games, including three straight.
Miles ranks second in the Big 12 and eighth nationally in assists per game (7.5).
Miles' 699 career assists are the second-most of any player nationwide..
She is also one of two Big 12 players ranking in the top-10 of the league in points and assists per game.
Miles is the active D1 leader in career assists per game average (6.5) and triple doubles (six). She is also the lone D1 player with at least 25 career double-doubles and five triple-doubles.
The New Jersey native leads all D1 guards in 15-5-5 games (29) and career double-doubles (27).
Miles has dished out five-or-more assists in 73 percent (77-107) of her career games played.

Marta Suarez

Tabbed Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday; averaged 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game across TCU's wins over Tarleton State and UTRGV.
Over her last three games, Suarez is averaging 23 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 50 percent from the floor and 46 percent from deep.
One of six players in the country averaging at least 19 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 40 percent from deep.
Suarez ranks fourth in all of Division I in scoring average among players 6-3 or taller.
Has led TCU in scoring four times and tallied at least 19 points in all-but-one game.
First TCU player to score 20-or-more in three straight ballgames since Sedona Prince in January.
She is the only men's or women's player to compete in four Power Conferences when including the Pac-12. Suarez played in both the Pac-12 and ACC at Cal and spent two years in the SEC with Tennessee.

Donovyn Hunter

Hunter is one of two Division I hoopers averaging at least 14 points and three 3-pointers per game while shooting it 55 percent or higher from the field.
Hunter has increased her scoring average to 10.7 points per game over her last 15 outings. She was permanently reinserted into TCU's starting lineup on Feb. 19. Prior to that, she was averaging 5.2 points per night.
Since TCU's loss at No. 12 Kansas State on Feb. 5, Hunter has shot 50 percent (68-137) from the field and 41 percent (32-78) from downtown over her last 19 outings.
Hunter has already made more than half the amount of 3-pointers as she did in all of 2024-25; has drilled 18 looks from distance through six games after finishing with 32 total threes last season.
Hunter has posted an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.0 or better in 10 of her last 19 outings.
Hunter is the sole Big 12 player cracking the top-10 of the league's statistical leaderboard in 3-point percentage (4th, .462), assist-to-turnover ratio (4th, 3.8) and field goal percentage (5th, .579).

Clara Silva

Ranks fourth and fifth, respectively, in the Big 12 in rebounds per game (8.7) and blocks per game (2.3).
Silva is one of 16 players nationwide and the only player from the Big 12 averaging at least eight rebounds and two blocks per game

Maddie Scherr

Scherr, along with Olivia Miles, is one of only 14 active players with at least 350 career assists and 170 steals to her name.
Scherr has 22 career 5-5-5 games to her name.
Scherr drained 6-6 attempts from downtown in just 22 minutes in TCU's win over Tennessee State on Nov. 12. In addition to setting career-highs for first half points scored (16) and 3-pointers, Scherr became the nation's lone player to shoot 100 percent from distance on six-plus attempts.

Taylor Bigby

Ranks 20th among all D1 guards in offensive rating (153), which estimates a player's total number of points produced per 100 possessions.
Has scored in double figures on four occasions this season and 16 times for her career; TCU is undefeated when she scores 10-plus.
Is connecting at a team-high 58 percent clip (11-19) from deep; shot 32 percent from distance last year.

Kennedy Basham

Basham leads all Big 12 players and ranks 13th nationally in blocks per game (2.7).
She notched her second straight and 27th career game with at least three blocks on Sunday vs. UTRGV.
The 6-7 center ranks sixth and seventh, respectively, among all active players in career blocks (168) and career blocks per game average (1.98).
