Pierre leads Frogs with 18 points
FORT WORTH – TCU made eight of its final 10 shots and held Lamar without a field goal for the last four minutes and 51 seconds of a 78-65 win over the Cardinals on Monday at Schollmaier Arena.
The Horned Frogs (2-1) trailed by five points with 15:31 to play following a layup by the Cardinals' Rob Lee Jr., who finished with a game-high 26 points. From there, TCU ended the game on a 31-13 run.
The second half played out much better than the first for the Frogs. TCU shot 56.0 percent from the field in the second half and held the Cardinals to 31.0 percent.
Senior Jayden Pierre scored 13 of his game-high 18 points in the second half. Pierre pushed the TCU lead to double-digits with a back-to-back sequence of a made 3-pointer and then a steal that led to a one-handed dunk. It gave TCU a 74-63 lead with 3:53 to play.
Xavier Edmonds, Jace Posey and David Punch each scored 12 points. Micah Robinson rounded out five double-figure scorers with 11 points.
TCU will host No. 6 Michigan on Friday at 8 p.m. on ESPN2. Tickets for the game are available through the TCU Ticket Office.

- Micah Robinson scored in double-figures for the second-straight game with 11 points off the bench – Robinson was 2-of-3 from 3-point range. It was his third-straight game with a made three.
- David Punch scored in double-figures for the third-straight game with 12 points. He was 5-of-5 from the field.
- Jace Posey had a career-high eight rebounds. It was the first time he's led TCU in rebounding.
- It was Jayden Pierre's 100th-career game.
- Pierre scored a team-high 18 points.
- Pierre tied a career-high with eight field goals made on 12 attempts. He also made eight shots against UConn on Jan. 5, 2025.
- Brock Harding led TCU in assists for the third-straight game with seven.
- Xavier Edmonds scored in double-figures for the third-straight game with 12 points.
