
TCU Off to Best Start Ever Following 81-66 Win over Cincinnati

FORT WORTH – TCU women's basketball continues to break its own records in the Mark Campbell era.
The 11th-ranked Horned Frogs raced past Cincinnati, 81-66, on Saturday in Schollmaier Arena to improve to a program-record 15-1 start to a season. The torrid run trumps the 14-1 record Campbell's inaugural squad commenced the 2023-24 campaign with.
TCU, winners of six straight ballgames, is also 3-0 to begin Big 12 play for the first time ever and is one of three remaining unbeatens in the expanded 16-team league.
Madison Conner and Sedona Prince combined for 50 points on a night the Horned Frogs shot 54 percent (28-54) from the field and drilled 9-18 looks from deep.
Conner led all players with 29 points and seven assists. She netted 19 of her points in the second half. Conner knocked down 6-9 three-pointers and was 4-5 behind the arc following the intermission.
Prince collected 18 of her 21 points in the paint and finished 9-12 from the field.
Agnes Emma-Nnopu joined the high-octane duo in double figures with a season-high 10 points.
TCU used a 23-point third quarter to take a 64-47 lead into the final period. Up six at halftime, the Horned Frogs scored on their first three trips down the court out of the locker room to go on top by double digits. TCU later used an 8-0 run bookended by a pair of and-one finishes from Prince and Aaliyah Roberson to widen the score to 61-43 with 1:48 remaining. Conner's fourth 3-pointer of the contest on the Horned Frogs' ensuing possession staked TCU to its largest lead of the night, 64-45.
The Horned Frogs assisted on all seven of their made field goals in the frame and limited Cincinnati to 3-12 shooting.
The separation followed a fast-paced first half that saw neither team lead by more than two possessions. Both TCU and Cincinnati (9-4, 1-2 Big 12) canned 16 buckets and shot better than 55 percent.
Cincinnati began the game 9-14 from the field and sat atop the scoreboard for more than six minutes in the first quarter. TCU closed the period on an 8-2 run sparked by three points, two rebounds and a steal from Taylor Bigby (7 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists) over the final 1:54.
TCU never trailed again outside of a brief 23-22 hole early in the second quarter. Conner and Bigby teamed up on a pair of 5-0 scoring spurts, with Conner connecting from deep in both spells.
Prince entered the intermission with 14 points while Conner tallied 10 points and five assists in the first half.
Leading 71-53 with 7:31 remaining, the Bearcats whittled TCU's advantage down to seven in advance of the final media timeout via a 13-2 run. Conner promptly countered with her sixth-and-final 3-pointer of the night to stymie any semblance of a Cincinnati comeback. TCU did not allow a field goal over the final 4:08. The Horned Frogs went 5-6 at the foul line in that span.
Conner finished 7-8 from the charity stripe.
TCU assisted on 21 of its 28 made field goals, marking the 15th time in the Campbell era the Horned Frogs' have finished with an assist rate of 75 percent or better. TCU has now recorded at least 20 assists in 10 outings this season.
The Horned Frogs became the second team to out-rebound Cincinnati – the Big 12 leader in offensive boards – this season, producing a 29-24 edge on the glass. TCU surrendered just eight offensive rebounds on 29 Bearcat missed field goals.
TCU also limited a Cincinnati squad averaging 19 free throws per game to 14 attempts at the line.
