Bech tops 100 yards receiving for the third time this season
DALLAS – TCU dropped a 66-42 decision at SMU on Saturday afternoon.
The Mustangs scored 24 points off TCU turnovers and returned a punt for a touchdown.
Trailing 17-0, TCU scored twice in a 3:27 span to pull within 17-14. A Josh Hoover 1-yard quarterback sneak on the first play of the second quarter capped a 14 play, 65-yard drive. On SMU's ensuing possession, Caleb Fox forced a fumble that was recovered by Kaleb Elarms-Orr. Six plays later, Cam Cook scored from 7 yards for his team-best fifth rushing touchdown of the season to cut the TCU deficit to 17-14.
TCU made it a 24-21 game on a 19-yard reception by Eric McAlister on a 4th-and-1 with exactly five minutes to play in the first half. McAlister had six receptions for 114 yards.
Trailing 41-21 at the break, TCU closed to within 41-28 on the opening series of the second half. Jack Bech capped the 90-yard drive with a 46-yard touchdown catch. He had eight receptions for 166 yards to record his third 100-yard game of the season. He later added a 15-yard scoring grab, Hoover's third touchdown pass of the game.
