
UCF Rallies Past TCU

Hoover passes for 402 yards, 4 TDs
FORT WORTH -- UCF rallied for a 35-34 victory over TCU in the Big 12 Conference opener for both teams Saturday night in Amon G. Carter Stadium.
The Horned Frogs started fast. TCU scored on its opening three possessions, converting all seven third-down opportunities in the process, to take a 21-7 lead with 10:10 left in the second quarter.
TCU extended its margin to 28-7 on a 50-yard scoring pass from Josh Hoover to Jack Bech just 1:32 into the second half. Bech had a career day with nine receptions for 200 yards.
Hoover tied a personal-best with four touchdown passes, two to Savion Williams, while recording his third career 400-yard game with 402 yards. He completed 35-of-52 attempts.
TCU had a chance to win at the end, taking possession at its 25-yard line with 36 seconds remaining. The Horned Frogs drove to the UCF 40. On the game's final play, Kyle Lemmermann's 58-yard field-goal attempt had the distance but was wide.
TCU special teams played a big role with three blocked kicks. Caleb Fox and LaMareon James blocked field goals with Bud Clark having his hands on an extra-point attempt.
