Horned Frogs place sixth; post two even-par scores on final day at Pebble Beach
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – A tried-and-true testament of the Angie Ravaioli-Larkin era, TCU women's golf delivered on moving day.
TCU finished 10-over (370) in the final round of the Carmel Cup at Pebble Beach Golf Links on Sunday.
The Horned Frogs' 18-holes score was the third-lowest in the eight-team field. Only tournament victor Vanderbilt (+3) and runner-up Arkansas (+7) signatured better scorecards.
Dating back to the 2023-24 campaign, TCU has now recorded its low round score in the final round in nine of its last 11 events.
Collectively, the Horned Frogs finished sixth at plus-48 (1,128) in the six-count-five event. TCU was just a stroke shy of forcing a tie with conference counterpart Oklahoma State for fifth. The Horned Frogs soundly finished ahead of old rivals Oklahoma (+84) and Texas Tech (+89).
Meagan Winans carved out her own slice of history on the revered course. Winans placed ninth outright at three-over (219) in the third playing of the prestigious women's event. The lone senior on TCU's roster, she was plus-two in Sunday's round and was the No. 2 overall finisher among Big 12 players. With the result, Winans earned the first top-10 finish and best overall result of her collegiate career.
Winans was one of only seven players to post an under-par round in the third playing of the Carmel Cup. She shot a three-under 69 on Friday.
Sofia Barroso Sá and Kirstin Angosta led Sunday's charge along the Monterrey Peninsula coastline. They each played even-par golf, with Barroso Sá collecting a team-high four birdies.
Originally from Belmonte Portugal, Barroso Sá ascended seven spots on the individual leaderboard to tie for 16th. The result signified the ninth top-20 finish of the junior's career.
Gracie McGovern tied for 20th (228). The freshman was even over her final 12 holes.
Camille Min-Gaultier finished one stroke back of McGovern at 13-over (229) and tied for 22nd.
Angosta was the second-biggest riser of any player in the 48-person field. She jumped from 35th and into a tie for 26th. The sophomore was bogey-free in 16 holes.
Sofie Dimitrova placed 41st at 21-over after shooting a seven-over 79. Her scores in rounds one and three did not factor into TCU's team score.
