TCU junior finishes as the outright runner-up at NCAA Waco Regional
WACO, Texas – Kirstin Angosta earned the right to go toe-to-toe with the best in college golf.
The TCU junior fired a four-under 66 for the second consecutive day in round three of the NCAA Waco Regional on Wednesday at Ridgewood Country Club. She finished as the outright runner-up at six strokes under par (204). Angosta qualified for the NCAA National Championships as the highest placing individual on a non-advancing team.
From nearby Coppell, Texas, Angosta is the second Horned Frog in as many seasons to advance to Nationals, which run from May 22-27 at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California.
Her charge to the final site began with a three-under 32 on the front nine. Angosta teed off in a tie for fifth and three shots back of the lead. She carded consecutive birdies on holes four and five, then shaved another stroke off her scorecard on the par-5 ninth. Angosta entered the turn tied for second.
She was bogey-free up until the 15th hole. Angosta was level with Kiara Romero of Oregon for the final NCAA Championships qualification spot at five-under with three holes to play. She promptly birdied 16 and saved par on her last two holes to beat out the world amateur No. 1.
Angosta broke TCU's program records for low tournament total, low-54 vs. par and low-18 vs. par with her performance. She also notched a collegiate personal record for low-54 total.
The 2025-26 campaign extends another week for Angosta. But for TCU, the final round at Ridgewood was its last.
The Horned Frogs shot a three-over 283 and placed eighth at 14 strokes over par. TCU finished seven strokes back of the cut line.
A rocky round one proved to be too much to overcome. TCU was 15-over after 18 holes on Monday. The Horned Frogs got within a two-stroke swing of fifth place through 13 completed holes in the third round after Angosta picked up her penultimate birdie on the day. The Frogs, though, picked up five strokes on the par-4 15 and never recovered.
Sofie Dimitrova and Gracie McGovern each signed for a two-over 72 while Camille Min-Gaultier posted a 74 to round out TCU's countable scoring.
Angosta notched her second career outright runner-up finish and seventh top-10. She has shot under par in six of her last 12 rounds.
