Frogs shoot a four-under 276 in round two to get within five strokes of cut line
WACO, Texas – TCU broke its NCAA Regionals record for low round vs. par and gave itself a fighting chance at advancing to Nationals on Tuesday at Ridgewood Country Club.
The Horned Frogs fired a four-under 276 in round two of the NCAA Waco Regional, a 19-stroke improvement from its opening round scorecard.
TCU began the day in 10th place and nine strokes back of the NCAA National Championships cut line. The Frogs jumped two spots up the leaderboard and nearly halved their deficit on fifth place. TCU will start Wednesday's final round 11 strokes over par and within five shots of Baylor and Tulsa, who are tied for the final NCAA Championships qualifying position.
The charge back was a welcome sight for a TCU team that began the year featured in the top-25 of every major national poll. TCU shot below par for the first time since late February, when it posted a two-under 286 in the final round of the Chevron Collegiate. The Horned Frogs notched their third-lowest 18-hole score of the 2025-26 campaign.
TCU carded its sixth all-time round of par-or-better in postseason play with the performance. Tuesday's showing tied for the seventh on TCU's all-time records list for low round.
Kirstin Angosta spearheaded the effort with a four-under 66, good for TCU's individual NCAA Regionals low round record. The junior accounted for five of TCU's 17 birdies and was bogey-free sans one hole. Angosta, who began the day T21, ascended into a tie for sixth at two-under 138 for the Regional. She will start round three just three strokes back of co-leaders Vanessa Borovilos (Texas A&M), Francesca Fiorellini (LSU) and Kirra St. Laurent (SMU).
Camille Min-Gaultier gave TCU two scorecards in the red, as she finished with a 68 to bring her tournament total to two strokes over par. Sofie Dimitrova and Yvette O'Brien each finished one-over while Gracie McGovern signed for a 72 to cap the scoring.
Teeing off on the back nine, TCU collectively trimmed six strokes over its first five holes. Angosta began her day with a birdie on the par-5 10th before Dimitrova birdied 13. The Horned Frogs fully ignited their comeback bid on Ridgewood's 14th hole. All four players who turned in a countable score closed birdie. Angosta and Dimitrova each shaved a stroke on 16. TCU entered the turn at four-under.
The Frogs dropped three strokes between holes five through seven as temperatures climbed into the high-80's. TCU steadied, though, picking up four birdies over its final two holes. Angosta, O'Brien and McGovern all birdied the par-5 ninth.
Min-Gaultier went birdie-par to close out her day. The 2025 All-American shot a two-under 33 on the front nine. She notched her 15th career round in the 60's and now ranks fifth in program history for sub-70 rounds and par-or-better rounds (34).
Angosta matched her collegiate low-18 personal record. She has now shot even or under par in five of her last nine rounds dating back to the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate Invitational in March.
O'Brien, who was entered as a substitute, scored par or better on all-but-two holes.
Dimitrova picked up three birdies in a four-hole span from 13-16.
TCU will now look to keep its season alive and chase down three teams currently ahead of it in round three. SMU leads the Regional by six strokes at 14-under. TCU trails fourth place Oregon by eight shots. Baylor and Tulsa are six-over. Tennessee occupies seventh place at eight-over.
The Horned Frogs will tee off on the front nine beginning at 8:50 a.m. on Wednesday and are paired with the Volunteers and Tarleton State.
