
McFarlane Shatters Heptathlon School Record

Kirbo, McFarlane and Morris all break school records on Saturday
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Joel McFarlane shattered the TCU heptathlon school record on the final day of the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
McFarlane's new record of 5,383 points earned him a sixth-place finish in Albuquerque. He finished the second day with an eighth-place finish in the 60m hurdles (8.46) and tied for 11th in the pole vault (4.30m). His time of 2:46.05 in the 1000m earned him 807 points in the final event to total 5,383.
It was McFarlane's first heptathlon as a Horned Frog. He broke the previous record of 5,042 points set by Sam Corley in 2021.
Also recording a new school record was Benjamin Kirbo. He recorded a new personal best for the third time in three meets with his height of 5.25m (17-2.75) to break his own record.
The 4x400 teams were flying in New Mexico. The women's 4x400 team of Samarra Monrroy, Iyana Gray, Dreunna Washington and Tia Williams ran the fourth-fastest time in TCU history with their time of 3:36.67. The squad finished third overall.
On the men's side, Jayden Douglas, David Seete, Kashie Crockett and Dominic Byles ran a 3:08.25 to finish second.
Emmanuel Ekong placed third in the men's unseeded 60m (6.98). Also notching top 10 finishes in the unseeded 60m was Washington who finished seventh (7.62) and Breanna Harlin who finished 10th (7.67).
The TCU distance squad also put on a show at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invite. Gracie Morris ran a personal-best 4:38.73 to break her own school record in the mile and finish third among collegians.
In addition to Gracie Morris' school record in the mile, nine new times were added to TCU's all-time program list in the distance events.
In the men's 3K, Graydon Morris' time of 7:58.62 is the third-fastest indoor time ever at TCU. McKenzie Bailey finished second in the 5K with her time of 16:55.57 – the fourth-fastest indoor time in school history.
Tabitha Kalunde Ngao continued her stellar rookie season with her time of 2:08.98 in the 800m, good for the third-fastest indoor TCU time ever.
London Culbreath etched her name into the record books in two races on Saturday. Her time of 9:38.46 is the fifth-fastest time in indoor history. She also ran a 4:54.67 in the mile to earn the ninth-fastest indoor time ever at TCU.
Four Frogs claimed their spot on TCU's all-time list in the 800m. Leading the way was Ryan Martin who ran a personal-best 1:48.82 for the third-fastest time in TCU history. Gianni Henry (1:50.59), Lloyd Frilot (1:51.03) and Giovouni Henry (1:51.09) are now sixth, seventh and eighth in program history, respectively.
