Horned Frogs defeat Cardinals 81-43, improve to 5-0
FORT WORTH – The tipoff time and audience demographic were different, yet the result remained the same for the Horned Frogs.
No. 19 TCU coasted past Incarnate Word 81-43 before an announced 5,379 fans on its annual Field Trip Day inside Schollmaier Arena.
The bevy of elementary-aged spectators lifted TCU to its largest crowd in 11 years. The program's all-time home attendance record was set on Jan. 2, 2013, when 7,394 fans packed the purple bleachers for a game vs. Baylor.
TCU (5-0) has now opened consecutive seasons with five straight wins for the first time ever. The 5-0 start is the Horned Frogs' fifth in 48 years of existence.
The Horned Frogs outscored UIW 46-19 in the second half. TCU scored 20 unanswered against the Cardinals (3-3) to begin the fourth quarter and augment its lead to 76-36.
Hailey Van Lith led all players with 19 points and six assists. The 5-9 guard also notched a career-high three steals and two blocks. She shot 7-7 at the charity stripe.
Sedona Prince collected her 16th TCU double-double, finishing with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Prince scored 11 of her points in the second half.

TCU connected at a 51 percent clip (30-58) and knocked down nine 3-pointers.
UIW became the fourth team the Frogs have held below 33 percent shooting this season. TCU limited the Cardinals to an 18-57 (.316) mark from the field
Van Lith sandwiched a pair of 3-pointers around Conner's first deep ball to stake TCU to a 9-2 advantage three minutes into the afternoon. Leading 11-7, Hunter single-handedly orchestrated a 7-0 run that helped TCU separate for good. Hunter swished a triple from the right key off a high pick-n-roll. She then coasted to consecutive fast break layups off steals on TCU's ensuing pair of defensive possessions.
TCU widened its edge to 25-11 at the 7:40 mark of the second frame off a teardrop from Taylor Bigby and transition three via Conner's right hand. A 7-0 Cardinals run halved the deficit but was as close as the visitors got the rest of the way.
The Horned Frogs took a 35-24 lead into the locker room. Van Lith collected 10 points and four assists in the first two periods.
Conner broke the game open two-and-a-half minutes into the third, canning back-to-back threes after laying it in on TCU's first possession to make the score 43-27. She and Prince combined for 17 of TCU's 21 points in the quarter, with Conner accounting for 11.
Five straight points from Van Lith put TCU up 30 at 66-36 with 5:20 to go. Roberson and fellow forward Deasia Merrill (4 points, 3 rebounds) combined for TCU's final 11 points as the Frogs emptied the bench.
TCU held UIW without a field goal for 8:10 seconds in the fourth quarter.
