Horned Frogs have 11 home games on tap; open season vs. Oral Roberts on Nov. 6
FORT WORTH – A home-heavy holiday hoops season is in store for Horned Frog women's basketball fans alike, as TCU unveiled its complete nonconference schedule on Friday.
TCU will host 11 games within the friendly confines of Fort Worth from November-December, beginning with a season-opening tilt vs. Oral Roberts on Nov. 6.
The 11-game nonconference home slate augments TCU's 2023-2024 home schedule to 20 contests. The Horned Frogs have nine Big 12 Conference home matchups on tap as a part of an 18-game conference schedule.
The 20 home games are tied for a single-season high in TCU's Big 12 era. TCU last played host 20 times during a 2018-2019 season that saw the Horned Frogs finish with a 24-11 overall record and advanced to the semifinals of the WNIT.
TCU's game against the Golden Eagles ignites a five-game homestand to begin its inaugural season under first year head coach Mark Campbell.
The Horned Frogs make the 48-hour turnaround to face Texas A&M-Kingsville on Nov. 8 before hosting rematches from the 2022-23 campaign vs. Rice (Nov. 12) and Incarnate Word (Nov. 15). TCU battled Rice in Houston and enjoyed a 27-point home victory over the Cardinals last winter.
The season-opening homestand concludes with a contest expected to carry special significance. The Horned Frogs will host the 18th Maggie Dixon Classic on Nov. 19 opposite Army. Dixon, the late sister of TCU men's basketball head coach Jamie Dixon, led Army women's basketball to its first-ever NCAA Tournament in 2006 before passing away suddenly due to an arrhythmia caused by an undiagnosed heart condition. The Maggie Dixon Classic has been played annually in her honor since 2006.
TCU then heads to Sunshine City along the Florida gulf coast for Thanksgiving week and its first trip away from home. The Horned Frogs are set to compete in the St. Pete Showcase on Nov. 23-25 in St. Petersburg, Florida. The two-game multi-team event (MTE) begins with a matinée matchup with UTEP on Thanksgiving Day, followed by a litmus test vs. Nebraska on Nov. 25. The tournament finale marks the first-ever meeting between the Horned Frogs and Cornhuskers.
The Horned Frogs jaunt to St. Petersburg is the program's lone road or neutral site affair. TCU wraps up nonconference play with a string of six straight home games from Dec. 1-22.
The extended stretch at home commences with a battle against Tulsa on Dec. 1. TCU will compete twice more prior to breaking for final exams, first vs. Abilene Christian on Dec. 5 and then opposite Prairie View A&M five days later. Following a week off, the Horned Frogs play three games in five days, starting with a Sunday showdown vs. Lamar on Dec. 17 and followed by Christmas week contests against Nebraska-Omaha (Dec. 20) and Mount St. Mary's (Dec. 22).
In all, TCU will take the court a total of 31 times in 2023-2024. The Big 12 released its scheduling matrix on July 20. The Horned Frogs' home conference contests are against BYU, UCF, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State Texas, Texas Tech and West Virginia. The complete conference schedule is expected to be released in September.
Tipoff times and broadcast specifications for each game will be announced at a later date. Season ticket renewals are ongoing. New season ticket packages can be purchased HERE.
