FORT WORTH – No. 9 TCU fell 2-0 to No. 6 Florida State Sunday night at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. Seven Castain led the team with three shots and Lauren Kellett collected one save.
The Rundown
The first half was an even battle as both teams tallied four shots. Early in the match, Lauren Memoly had a good look from distance, putting a shot on frame but the Florida State goalkeeper was in the right position to make the save.
Lauren Kellett came up huge with a diving stop in the 17th minute to keep the contest scoreless.
In the second half, TCU was applying pressure in the attacking zone and had multiple quality looks at the net. The Horned Frogs outshot the Seminoles 5-4 in the half but couldn't find the back of the net.
In the 68th minute, Memoly executed a slide tackle to win back possession from the Seminoles, creating a two-on-one attack that led to Gracie Brian just missing a shot to the right of the goal.
In the 70th minute, Florida State took the lead after Taylor Huff scored from 25 yards out. Just over two minutes later, the Seminoles took advantage of another rush and Onyi Echegini scored to give the Seminoles a 2-0 lead.

Obviously, we have some things to clean up from the soccer perspective, but credit to them for putting two goals by us. Congratulations to Florida State. We've got some work to do, but it's early in the season."
On the physicality of the game:
"I thought we did great handling it. I thought we represented ourselves and competed in a way that was commendable and good enough to win the game."
