For the first time in program history, the Horned Frogs claim the CCSA Conference Title
HUNTSVILLE, ALA – No. 2 TCU beach volleyball (35-2) earned their first-ever CCSA Conference Championship. The Horned Frogs avenged an earlier loss with a dominating, straight-set, 3-0 win over No. 4 seeded GCU. TCU topped No. 6 LSU, 4-1, earlier in the day to secure its spot in the championship match.
TCU battled through the loser's bracket after a Day 1 loss to Grand Canyon. The Frogs defeated No. 6 Missouri State, No. 2 seeded Florida State and No. 3 seeded LSU to secure their spot in the Conference Championship match.
"Coming back from the loser's bracket is never an easy thing to do," said head coach Hector Gutierrez. "You can see the heart and the fight that they girls put on this tournament. I'm so proud of them. I am beyond happy for all the players that have been dreaming of this moment because they worked so hard to win this conference. This is one of the hardest, if not the hardest conference in the country, to win and we did. It's just unreal for us."
"Thank you so much to everyone on the team, all the staff, Majo especially, and Daniel, the players that didn't get to play because they were off the court cheering for their teammates, and thanks to everybody for this title. We all worked so hard for this moment and I'm really happy for the players that are on the roster right now and for the alumni that have created this TCU team."
Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno were named CCSA Pair of the Tournament while Rochelle Scott/Hailey Brocket and Sutton MacTavish/Hailey Hamlett earned CCSA All-Tournament team accolades.
