Frogs will take on the Mountaineers in Round One
Lawrence, Kan. – TCU Women's Tennis is prepped for the Big 12 Championships this week from April 20-23 in Lawrence, Kansas.
TCU is the eighth seed and will play West Virginia for the second straight time in the first round of the tournament. First serve is set for Thursday, April 20th at 10:00 a.m. The winner of the match will take on Texas in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Last Time Against the Mountaineers, the Horned Frogs dominated in a 6-1 fashion. The Frogs jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead when Tiphanie Lemaitre and Destinee Martins won their doubles match 6-2. Jade Otway and Mercedes Aristegui clinched the duos point with a 6-4 victory.
TCU jumped all over West Virginia, winning five of six singles matches in straight sets. Senior Mercedes Aristegui only lost one game in her singles match against Ting-Wei Chang 6-1, 6-0). Tiphanie Lemaitre added a 6-4, 6-1 victory on the No. 1 court. Up 3-0, sophomore Jade Otway clinched the match for the Frogs to secure the eight seed in the Big 12 tournament in a 6-1, 6-3 decision.
Destinee Martins and Helena Narmont also finished the match with singles wins. TCU's lone loss came on the third court. With the 6-1 decision, the Frogs built upon their late season momentum leading up to the Big 12 tournament.
Scouting the Mountaineers:
West Virginia (11-11) this season went 1-8 in conference play. Their lone win came against the Kansas State Wildcats in Morgantown. West Virginia's Michaela Kucharova has led her team in overall singles wins with 10. She has garnered three wins on the second court and seven on the three court. Kucharova also has provided most wins on the doubles side with her partner Nagato Momoko. The duo has gathered 11 wins, with 10 on the second doubles court.
