Postseason conference honors aplenty for Big 12 Tournament Champions
FORT WORTH – As the program looks ahead to postseason play, the TCU women's tennis team was honored with numerous 2026 Big 12 Awards, the league announced Thursday.
Of the most prominent of the yearly awards, Jennifer Jackson was named the conference Freshman of the Year while Lee Taylor Walker was tabbed the Big 12 Coach of the Year.
A handful of Horned Frog representatives collected singles accolades, as Raquel Caballero Chica earned All-Big 12 First Team honors and Yu-Chin Tsai, Cristina Ramos Sierra and Cayetana Gay were named to the All-Big 12 Second Team.
On the doubles side, all three main pairings of Tsai and Victoria Gomez O'Hayon, Caballero Chica and Jackson and Tomi Main and Gay were named to All-Big 12 Second Team Doubles.
Jackson currently holds a 12-2 dual record in singles play and is 15-4 in doubles after her debut regular season and Big 12 Tournament as a member of the conference. The freshman has won eight straight singles matches spanning from March 25 to Big 12 Tournament Championship final against No. 1 seed UCF.
In doubles, the Spicewood, Texas, native primarily played alongside Raquel Caballero Chica in the dual season, and the two have won six straight matches at the No. 2 spot. Jackaon went 3-0 in both singles and doubles in the Big 12 Tournament en route to winning Most Outstanding Performer honors, playing at the No. 5 spot in singles and middle court in doubles play.
Taylor Walker has guided TCU to one of its most impressive seasons in school history, which was recently elevated with the program's first-ever Big 12 Tournament title. After being picked to finish seventh in the league, the Frogs were able to put together a 10-3 Big 12 record during the regular season and finish third in the conference standings. After defeating No. 1 seed UCF for the Big 12 Tournament crown, TCU holds a 20-4 record, which is the first time since 2008 that the Frogs have recorded 20 or more victories.
Caballero Chica, the rock behind TCU's single lineup, has started to hit her stride as the competition and level begins to rise. The junior went 10-3 in singles during the dual season to date, tallying an impressive 7-2 record in conference singles at the No. 1 spot. Caballero Chica earned three ranked victories over the course of the season, with the highest of the season coming against No. 16 Emilija Tverijonaite in the victory over No. 6 Arizona state. She delivered the clinching blow against UCF in the Big 12 Championships, defeating No. 116 Jantje Tilbuerger in two sets, 6-3, 6-4 to lead TCU to its first Big 12 Tournament title in program history.
The Barcelona, Spain, native has won eight of her last 10 completed singles matches, with all but one coming in the Big 12. Caballero Chica was named to the All-Big 12 Tournament Team for No. 1 singles. This past fall, she was an ITA Regional semifinalist and a qualifier for ITA Sectionals.
Tsai, Ramos Sierra and Gay took home All-Big 12 Second Team Singles accolades after providing consistent depth for the Frogs throughout the entirety of the dual season to date. The four combined for a 39-5 record during the dual season, with Tsai going 12-2, Ramos Sierra posting a 13-3 ledger and Gay notching an undefeated 14-0 mark.
Two of those three individuals were named to the Big 12 All-Tournament Team, as Ramos Sierra grabbed honors for the No. 3 spot in singles and Gay held down court six to give TCU crucial victories when needed en route to the Big 12 Tournament title.
All three of TCU's double pairings were selected to All-Big 12 Second Team Doubles. Victoria Gomez O'hayon and Tsai were the mainstay duo on court one during regular season, as the two put together a 7-6 dual record heading into the NCAA Tournament. On court two, Jackson and Caballero Chica went 14-4 together during the regular season, and the two have won six straight matches heading into TCU's next matchup. Court No. 3, featuring Main and Gay, went a dominant 8-2 in conference play to help guide them to a 12-4 record.
The pairings on courts two and three went on to win Big 12 All-Tournament team honors after helping TCU win two of three doubles points during the tournament.
The Frogs will begin NCAA Tournament play on May 1 at 11 a.m. as they take on Rice.
