Horned Frogs drained 14 three-pointers in 86-48 win
FORT WORTH – TCU revved its offensive engines once more on Wednesday inside Schollmaier Arena.
The Horned Frogs drained 14 three-pointers – their most in a game in five seasons – and rolled to an 86-48 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville before an announced crowd of 1,450 spectators.
TCU (2-0) assisted on 20 of its 31 made field goals on its way to a 51 percent shooting clip. The Horned Frogs led by as many as 42 points in the wire-to-wire win. TCU threaded a 25-0 scoring run between the second and third quarters, holding the Javelinas (0-3) without a field goal for 10:12.
Four players scored in double figures to fuel the Horned Frogs' offensive surge.
Madison Conner again led all scorers, racking up 22 points on a 7-15 clip from the field and 5-12 mark behind the arc. The 5-11 guard, two days removed from a 30-point, 11-rebound double-double vs. Oral Roberts, poured in 14 of her points in the first quarter.
TCU had two players post double-doubles for the second time in as many games. Agnes Emma-Nnopu earned the first of her career behind a 14-point, 10-rebound, four-steal and three-assist effort. Prince posted her second double-double in as many games and fourth of her career, tallying 16 points and 10 boards over 22 minutes.
Aaliyah Roberson joined the trio in double digits. The sophomore chipped in a career-high 11 points on 4-5 shooting as TCU's first player off the bench.
Conner's 14-point opening frame paced TCU to a 27-10 edge. TCU closed the frame on a 15-2 run behind a quartet of 3-pointers – three from Conner and one courtesy of Prince.
Roberson scored eight of her points in the second quarter, including consecutive three's at the start of the period. Jaden Owens then canned a deep ball from the left key to increase TCU's advantage to 33-16 at with 6:45 on the clock and ignite TCU's prolonged scoring run. The Horned Frogs took a 48-16 lead into halftime and scored the game's first 10 points out of the intermission.
TCU was the beneficiary of 17 bench points in the second half. All 10 players who dressed entered the contest.
Jaden Owens led all players with six assists.
Fellow senior Tara Manumaleuga added a season-high seven points.
The Horned Frogs out-rebounded the Javelinas 42-25 and forced 16 turnovers, including 11 first-half giveaways.
TCU's 86 points were the program's most in a game in regulation since a 96-71 win over Oklahoma on March 4, 2020.
