TCU Falls in Close Contest to West Virginia

Lucy Ibeh scores 18 points in 62-55 loss
FORT WORTH – Three Horned Frogs scored double figures as TCU fell in a close 62-55 contest to West Virginia on Saturday afternoon at Schollmaier Arena. Lucy Ibeh tied her season high with a team-leading 18 points while also adding eight rebounds.
The Rundown
Bella Cravens scored back-to-back layups in the opening minutes to start TCU's scoring. With 5:05 remaining in the first quarter, Tomi Taiwo nailed one of her four 3-pointers of the game to give TCU a 9-7 lead.
Lucy Ibeh's first basket of the night came with 1:27 remaining in the period when she got fouled and converted the and-one to give TCU the 12-11 edge. The Frogs ended the first period trailing by one point.
TCU's last lead of the game came in the second quarter when Emily Fisher made a jumper right outside the paint, putting the Frogs up 14-13. TCU was outscored 17-11 in the second quarter as the Frogs trailed 30-23 at halftime.
Ibeh tallied a team-high eight points in the third period to pull TCU back into the game. With 2:45 remaining, TCU began a 6-0 scoring run to bring the Frogs within one.
The fourth quarter saw West Virginia slowly pull away. The closest the Frogs ever were to tying came with 4:19 remaining when another Fisher layup cut the deficit to four points.
