
Horned Frogs in Contention Following First Round in Norman

Sabrina Nguyen matches career-low in first-round action
NORMAN, Okla. – The TCU women's golf team opened its 2022-23 season with a score of 280 (E) in first-round action at the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Okla., on Saturday.
The Horned Frogs sit in 12th place following the first 18 holes of play, but are within five shots of the next seven teams. Florida State leads the field following a first-round score of 267 (13).
Junior Sabrina Nguyen and sophomore Caitlyn Macnab paced the Horned Frogs' even-round score, as both players carded scores of 69 (-1) in the first round.
Macnab carded a round below par for the 10th time in her career, while Nguyen matched her best-ever round at the collegiate level. Nguyen posted a score under par for the second time overall and first time since shooting 69 as a freshman in the second round of the ICON Invitational back on Feb. 22, 2021. It also marked a new career-high with four birdies in the round for Nguyen.
Junior Lois Lau was one of just three players in the field to score an eagle on day one. She scored a 3 on the par 5, 12th hole and would go onto finish the round carding a 71 (+1).
Freshman Sofia Barroso Sá and Charlotte Cattaneo made their collegiate debuts for the Horned Frogs, carding scores of 71 (+1) and 74 (+4), respectively.
The Horned Frogs will be back in action on Sunday for the second round of the Schooner Fall Classic. Teams will tee off from holes No. 1 and No. 10 beginning at 9 a.m.
