Horned Frogs record best start in CCSA history at 28-1

LOS ANGELES -- No. 2 TCU beach volleyball (28-1) suffered its first loss of the season to No. 3 USC, 4-1, on the final day of the UCLA Beach Invitational. The Horned Frogs complete the week in Los Angeles with a 4-1 record, collecting two wins over No. 1 UCLA, one over No. 5 Loyola Marymount and one over No. 9 Hawaii.

TCU records the best start in CCSA history this weekend 28-1, smashing Florida State's record set last season at 21-1.

Only one Horned Frog pairing delivered a 3-0 weekend: Megan Muret and Rochelle Scott. The duo took straight set victories against all three ranked opponents with an average margin of victory of 5.8 points. They have won 15 straight matches together, tying Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno for the longest winning streak by a pair in program history.

QUICK HITS AGAINST No. 3 USC:

Maria Gonzalez and Ana Vergara were the first Horned Frog duo to finish their match against the Trojans.
The No. 4's took a close two set loss, fighting hard in the second: 18-21, 26-28.
Sutton MacTavish and Kaylie McHugh finished the dual second in a three-set loss to USC.
The duo took the first set 21-17 but fell short in the second and third: 13-21, 9-15.
Megan Muret and Rochelle Scott were the only Frog pairing of the day to score against the Trojans.
The duo took a huge two set victory from the No. 5 position: 21-12, 21-15.
The pairing currently holds a 15-game winning streak, the longest on the team.
Muret improved her seasonal record to 26-1, Scott to 25-1.
Scott notched her 27^th career ranked win which moves her to second most in program history. She is only two behind career ranked win leader and fellow teammate, Hailey Brockett (29).
Alexis Filippone and Hailey Hamlett finished fourth in the dual from the No. 3 position.
The duo suffered a 11-21 first set loss but unfortunately fell short in the second 19-21.
No. 1's Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno were the last Horned Frog pairing left in the dual.
The duo took two close set losses to the Trojans: 17-21, 17-21.

UP NEXT
TCU travels to Tallahassee, Florida next weekend for the Unconquered Invitational April 8-9. The Frogs are set to face five opponents, four of them nationally ranked. TCU will go toe-to-toe against No. 19 Stetson, No. 15 Florida International, No. 4 Florida State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and No. 6 LSU.
