TCU Completes Another Perfect Season at Home

The Horned Frogs achieve their third ranked sweep of the season

FORT WORTH -- No. 2 TCU beach volleyball (36-2) closed its regular season with a perfect 4-0 showing at the TCU Invitational, sweeping No. 16 Pepperdine and Houston Baptist, 5-0, on Saturday.

This is the third time this season the Horned Frogs have swept a ranked opponent, 5-0. On Friday, TCU took victories over Missouri State and No. 9 Stanford.

TCU's home record winning streak of 28 matches remains intact with a perfect 13-0 showing this year. The Frogs have not lost at home since March 2020.

Hailey Brockett and Maria Gonzalez are the only Frogs to have played and won all four matches this weekend. Brockett played all but one match with partner Alexis Filippone. The duo took straight set wins over both ranked opponents for an average margin of victory of six points. Gonzalez played all but one match with partner Ana Vergara. The pairing took straight set wins against all but one opponent.

QUICK HITS AGAINST NO. 16 PEPPERDINE:

Megan Muret and Rochelle Scott scored the first point of the day from the No. 5 position: 21-18, 21-10.
The duo notched their 27^th victory as partners.
Maria Gonzalez and Ana Vergara took the second point of the dual in a three-set victory from No. 4: 21-18, 16-21, 15-5
The three-set phenoms remain nearly perfect in three-setters, 11-2.
Riding an eight-game winning streak, the duo notched their 18^th ranked victory of the season.
The pairing improved their record to 27-4.
Hailey Hamlett and Kaylie McHugh clinched the match for the Frogs with their two-set victory on No. 2: 21-17, 21-15.
The duo notched their fourth victory as a pairing.
Hamlett claimed her 21^st win, McHugh her 15^th.
Alexis Filippone and Hailey Brockett scored the fourth consecutive point for TCU from the No. 3 postion: 21-13, 27-25.
The duo notches their 18^th victory of the season as partners.
The pairing achieved their 8^th ranked victory together.
Tania Moreno and Sutton MacTavish secured the sweep with their three-set victory over the No. 1 pairing from Pepperdine.
The duo improved their record to 2-1 as partners.
Moreno notched her 28^th victory of the season, MacTavish her 23^rd.
This is the first time in program history that the Horned Frogs defeated the Waves.
The victory over Pepperdine marks the third time this season that TCU has swept a ranked opponent.

QUICK HITS AGAINST HBU:

Muret, switching partners for the second match, scored the first point of the dual with partner Tara Patton: 21-16, 21-13
The duo improved their record to 3-0 as a pairing.
Boll and White took the second point of the dual in a three-set match at the No. 4 position: 19-21, 21-14, 15-9.
This is the pairings second appearance and victory as partners.
Boll notched her 5^th victory of the season, White her 2^nd.
Filippone and Brockett clinched the win over the Huskies with a straight-set victory from the No. 2 position: 21-13, 21-14.
This is the pairings 19^th victory as partners.
Gonzalez, also switching up partners for the second match, was joined by Peyton Yamagata to score the fourth consecutive point for the Frogs: 21-13, 21-12.
This is the duos first appearance and victory as a pairing.
McHugh and Araco secured the TCU sweep with their straight-set victory on No. 1: 21-16, 21-12.
This is the duos first appearance and victory as a paring.
TCU notched their 10^th consecutive win over Houston Baptist. The Frogs remain perfect, 28-0, against teams from Texas.
