TCU duo record below-par scores in the final round
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Sabrina Iqbal and Greta Bruner carded a 69 and 71, respectively, to lead the TCU women's golf team in final round action Tuesday at the Big 12 Championship in The Woodlands, Texas.
The Horned Frogs tied for sixth.
Iqbal's 3-under 69 marked her second sub-70 round of the season and 12th of her career. She totaled seven birdies, including six in a nine-hole stretch covering the front and back nine. The junior from San Jose, Calif., tied for 19th to post her 20th top-20 finish in 28 career tournaments at TCU.
Bruner, playing just outside her hometown of Conroe, Texas, used four birdies to go 4 under over the final 14 holes en route to her 1-under 71. The graduate student tied for 15th for her second top-20 result at a Big 12 Championship and 13th in 28 career events as a Horned Frog.
Valeria Pacheco birdied two of her opening three holes for a 74. Her 6-over 222 placed in a tie for 31st.
Sabrina Nguyen posted a 75, including a birdie, and was 4 over for the final 36 holes.
TCU will await NCAA Regional selections next Thursday, April 28, as it looks to make its 23rd postseason appearance in the last 25 opportunities.
