
TCU Sweeps the Horned Frog Challenge

TCU 6-0 from the top three pairs
Fort Worth -- No. 9 TCU beach volleyball (7-1) had a clean sweep today, winning both matches on the second day of the Horned Frog Challenge. The Horned Frogs defeated UAB, 3-2 and Southern Mississippi, 5-0. The top three pairs went 6-0 today with clutch wins coming from each position. The Horned Frogs have now one seven consecutive matches, tied for the longest winning streak in program history (first since 2017).
The Frogs started off slow against UAB, dropping the fourth and fifth positions early on. Rochelle Scott and Maria Gonzalez took the first win of the match in straight sets, to remain unbeaten as a pair. Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno Mateeva took the second win of the match in straight sets, winning their second set by a landslide, 21-4, the largest margin of victory by any TCU pairing in program history. For the fourth time as a pair, Olivia Blackburn and Hailey Brockett clinched the win for the Horned Frogs, in straight sets. The duo remains undefeated, 6-0 this year.
The Frogs swept the match against Southern Mississippi, 5-0. Peyton Yamagata secured her first collegiate win at the No. 5 position with Megan Jacobsen. Caroline White and Tara Patton notched their first win as a pair at the No. 4 position by winning in three sets. The top three pairings all won in straight sets to top off the victory.
Rochelle Scott remains undefeated, 8-0, at the end of the weekend. It is the longest win streak of her career.

The Horned Frogs will be in Gulf Shores, Ala. next weekend where they will play in the "March to May" tournament hosted by UAB. They will take on UAB (4-3), No. 10 Grand Canyon (4-1), No. 19 Georgia State (3-2) and No. 1 LSU (5-0). TCU will kick off the tournament on Friday, March 12 at 10am vs No. 10 Grand Canyon.

- Jacobsen and Yamagata scored the first point for TCU and win as a pair winning in two sets at the No. 5 position: 21-13, 21-14
- This marks Yagamata's first collegiate win.
- Yagamata is the 4th member of TCU's highest rated recruiting class to win her first match, joining Josie Miller, Tania Moreno Mateeva and Maria Gonzalez.
- White and Patton scored the next point for the Horned Frogs in the No. 4 position by winning in three sets: 20-22, 21-15, 15-11.
