TCU Delivers Two More Ranked Wins

Horned Frogs defeat No. 15 South Carolina and No. 17 Georgia State on day one of the Gamecock Grand Slam
Columbia, S.C. -- No. 9 TCU beach volleyball (16-3) extended its winning streak to nine with a pair of ranked victories on day one of the Gamecock Grand Slam in Columbia, S.C.. The Horned Frogs defeated No. 15 South Carolina, 4-1, and No. 17 Georgia State, 3-2. TCU sets a program record with eight wins over ranked teams this season.
The top three Horned Frog pairings delivered perfect days. Daniela Alvarez / Tania Moreno Mateeva, Olivia Blackburn / Hailey Brockett and Rochelle Scott / Maria Gonzalez. The top three pairings have been outstanding all season, delivering a combined 47-10 record (.825 win %) in 19 matches this season.
The top two pairings hold on to a nine-match winning streak. The No. 1 pairing, Alvarez and Moreno sit at 17-2 as a duo and the No. 2 pairing, Olivia Blackburn and Hailey Brockett, 16-1.
QUICK HITS AGAINST NO. 15 SOUTH CAROLINA:
● Scott and Gonzalez scored the first point for the Horned Frogs, winning two sets, at the No. 3 position: 21-19, 21-16.
● The duo is now 12-3 as a pair, with all 12 of their victories coming from straight sets.
● Alvarez and Moreno scored the next point for TCU, winning in two sets, at the No. 1 position: 21-10, 21-13.
