Horned Frogs improve to 3-0 this season with a 4-2 home victory over North Texas

FORT WORTH – TCU women's tennis (3-0) remains undefeated to begin the 2021 season after defeating North Texas, 4-2, on Wednesday evening at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Horned Frogs won four of five completed singles matches to secure the victory.

Addy Guevara and Marie Norris led the Horned Frogs with wins in both doubles and singles action. They both hold team-best records of 12-1 in all matches this season.

TCU has now won 11 of 12 dual singles matches this season. The Horned Frogs improve to 3-0 for the first time since 2019 and the fourth time in the seven-year Walker era.

DOUBLES QUICK HITS

TCU lost the doubles point, despite a victory from Marie Norris and Addy Guevara at No. 3 doubles.
This was the third dual doubles victory for Norris/Guevara.
They are 3-0 in dual doubles matches and 6-1 as a pairing in 2021.
All three of their victories this season have come at the No. 3 position.
TCU is now 5-4 in doubles play this dual season.

TCU clinched the dual victory with wins at No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6.
The Horned Frogs have improved to 11-1 in singles matches this dual season.
Mercedes Aristegui won the first match of the day in straight sets: 6-0, 6-2.
She is now 2-0 in dual singles play this season, 3-1 overall in 2021.
Both of her wins this season have come at No. 3 singles.
Isabel Pascual Montalvo earned her first career dual singles victory today: 6-4, 6-3.
It was her third victory of the new year (3-1 overall), including tournament play earlier this month.
Pascual earned the win at the No. 6 position.
Marie Norris continued her strong start to the year with a hard-fought 7-6(4), 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles.
Norris is now 3-0 in dual singles competition and 6-0 overall in 2021.
Norris is outscoring her opponents by a combined game-score of 73-22 (76.8 percent).
Addy Guevara clinched the match at No. 5 singles: 5-7, 6-3, 6-1.
She also improves to 3-0 in dual singles competition and 6-0 overall in 2021.
Guevara has been a workhorse in the lineup, improving to 2-0 in three-set matches.
This was the first dual-clinching victory of the season for Guevara.
