TCU Notables
TCU went 4-0 in the Horned Frogs Challenge last weekend, including two 5-0 sweeps. The first sweep was over Nebraska on day one. The second sweep came against Abilene Christian on day two. TCU also had decisive 4-1 victories over Texas A&M - Kingsville and Nebraska in their second match.
Jordan Westendorff remains undefeated for TCU, this season, with a 6-0 record. Westendorff has played in three different pairings, finding success every time. Taylor Bradley and Haven Hill follow Westendorff with the same record of 7-1 as individual players. Bradley is the only TCU player to have a perfect record at No. 1, going 4-0. Hill has contributed to the depth of the Frogs', playing with five partners, the most of anyone on the team. She has gone 3-0 on courts two through four and has totaled four wins on court five, contributing to a .875 winning percentage on court five, the highest winning percentage of the five courts.
Olivia Beyer and Taylor Bradley have been a dominant pairing. The duo is 4-0, never dropping a set, playing every match on the first court. Both players are riding six-game win streaks. During that streak, Beyer hasn't dropped a set, playing solely on the first court.
Avery Arellano hasn't dropped a set in five matches and only allowed eight points in her second set vs. Neb alongside partner Hailey Brockett.
Kathryn Kramer and the pairing of Bella Swafford and Lauren Turner made their debuts for the Horned Frogs over the weekend. Every player won their match in their first appearances, contributing to the 5-0 sweep over ACU.
The Competition
LSU comes into the weekend ranked No. 1 with an 8-2 record. Their only losses were to then No. 1 UCLA and No. 5 Hawaii. However, LSU has four wins over top-25 teams. Five of their eight wins are by 5-0 sweeps, including over No. 19 Stanford. The Horned Frogs are 1-4 against LSU and haven't defeated the Tigers since the 2016 season.
The 17th-ranked Arizona Beach Volleyball team is 7-0, with four wins coming as 5-0 sweeps. The Wildcats have yet to face a ranked opponent. TCU is 0-4 against Arizona.
Missouri State is 3-5 coming into the weekend. The Bears have lost every match against a ranked opponent. However, two victories are 5-0 sweeps, and the third is a decisive 4-1 win. The Horned Frogs are 3-2 against the Bears.
UAB is 4-2 to start the 2020 season. The Blazers earned three 5-0 sweeps, including a victory over CCSA Conference member, ULM. TCU is undefeated against UAB, going 5-0 in competition. The last time the teams met, the Horned Frogs swept the Blazers 5-0.
