TCU Wraps Up Non-Conference Slate With 62-48 Win Over ORU

Morris scores 15 and posts career-high four blocked shots
FORT WORTH – The TCU Horned Frogs wrapped up non-conference play with a 62-48 home win over Oral Roberts, Tuesday afternoon at Schollmaier Arena. Lauren Heard (16) and Yummy Morris (15) notched 15-point efforts and Kayla Mokwuah poured in a season-high 10 points in her first start donning the Purple & White. Heard was a rebound shy of collecting a double-double as she and Michelle Berry both pulled down a game-high nine boards each.
TCU improved to 5-2 overall on the year, sweeping the non-conference slate at home for a third straight season. The loss dropped Oral Roberts to 2-6 overall.
TURNING POINT
Despite scoring a season-low 24 points through the first two quarters, TCU still managed to take a 10-point lead into the halftime break, but the Horned Frogs finally put the game away in the third quarter. Morris scored seven of her 15 points in the frame and TCU shot .727 (8-of-11) from the field. The Horned Frogs led by 11 points after three quarters of play and ORU only managed to get back within 10 points early in the fourth quarter. The two teams would trade buckets down the stretch and the double-digit lead turned into a 14-point win for the Frogs.
