Morris scores 15 and posts career-high four blocked shots

FORT WORTH – The TCU Horned Frogs wrapped up non-conference play with a 62-48 home win over Oral Roberts, Tuesday afternoon at Schollmaier Arena. Lauren Heard (16) and Yummy Morris (15) notched 15-point efforts and Kayla Mokwuah poured in a season-high 10 points in her first start donning the Purple & White. Heard was a rebound shy of collecting a double-double as she and Michelle Berry both pulled down a game-high nine boards each.

TCU improved to 5-2 overall on the year, sweeping the non-conference slate at home for a third straight season. The loss dropped Oral Roberts to 2-6 overall.

TURNING POINT
Despite scoring a season-low 24 points through the first two quarters, TCU still managed to take a 10-point lead into the halftime break, but the Horned Frogs finally put the game away in the third quarter. Morris scored seven of her 15 points in the frame and TCU shot .727 (8-of-11) from the field. The Horned Frogs led by 11 points after three quarters of play and ORU only managed to get back within 10 points early in the fourth quarter. The two teams would trade buckets down the stretch and the double-digit lead turned into a 14-point win for the Frogs.

• TCU moved to 6-4 all-time against Oral Roberts, including a 4-2 record when taking on the Golden Eagles at home.
• The Horned Frogs are now 7-6 all-time against teams from the Summit League.
• TCU collected its 28th straight win over a non-conference opponent at home. The streak dates back to the 2017-18 season.
• The Horned Frogs close out non-conference play 5-0 this season and improved to 24-3 overall against non-conference foes over the past three seasons.
• The Horned Frogs are 58-14 against non-conference opponents in the regular-season under head coach Raegan Pebley.
• TCU scored just nine points in the first quarter and a total of 24 points in the first half. Both totals were new season-lows for the Horned Frogs.
• Despite TCU's offensive woes in the first half, the defense limited ORU to just .185 (5-27) shooting, marking the first time TCU has held an opponent to under 20 percent in a half since Kansas State on Feb. 1, 2020.
• The Horned Frogs, led by Yummy Morris' career-high four blocked shots, totaled 11 blocks in the game. That marks the most blocks in a game since notching 10 blocked shots against Montana State on Dec. 8, 2018.
• Tavy Diggs set a new career-high with a pair of steals. She posted both of her steals in the first quarter.
• Lauren Heard collected a steal, giving her 177 steals in her career. She is currently tied for 10th all-time with both Beja Hamilton (2012-16) and Teresia Hudson (1985-88).
• Heard is now tied at No. 4 overall in school history with 511 free throws made in a career. She is tied with Janice Dziuk (1986-90).
• Heard has now scored 15+ points in 11 straight games dating back to last season.
• Heard and Caroline Germond both dished out five assists each. Heard has totaled five assists or more in six of seven games this season.
