Strong Second Half Leads TCU Past Central Arkansas

Horned Frogs erase five-point halftime deficit on the way to home win
FORT WORTH – The TCU Horned Frogs notched another non-conference home win on Saturday, defeating the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears 65-48 at Schollmaier Arena. Lauren Heard led the way for TCU with 17 points and Aahliyah Jackson added 13 points – a new career-high for the graduate transfer.
Michelle Berry poured in nine points, while Tavy Diggs led the Horned Frogs off the bench with seven points. Yummy Morris pulled down a team-best nine rebounds, Heard dished out seven assists and Caroline Germond led the way defensively with four steals.
The win pushed TCU's record to 2-0 on the season, while UCA dropped to 0-2 overall.
TURNING POINT
Central Arkansas outscored the Horned Frogs 19-6 in the second quarter to take a 31-26 lead into the halftime break, but TCU turned around to outscore the Sugar Bears 24-10 in the third quarter and 39-17 overall in the second half. TCU limited UCA's offense to just eight field goals in the second half, which included giving up just three field goals total in the fourth quarter.
Jackson scored nine of her 13 points in the third quarter, draining a three-pointer and going 3-for-3 from the field overall. The Horned Frogs shot .643 (9-14) from the field in the quarter on the way to erasing a five-point deficit and turning it into a nine-point lead at the end of three frames.
