Preview: Waves’ Invite

TCU will continue spring break action in California by heading to the Waves’ Invite.
MALIBU, Calif. – Spring break action for the No. 20 TCU beach volleyball team will continue as they travel to Malibu, Calif., to take part in the Wave's Invite on Wednesday, March 13 at Zuma Beach.
The Horned Frogs (5-7) will first face host No. 5 Pepperdine (8-4) at 1 p.m., CT, before ending the tournament with No. 13 LMU (5-1) at 4 p.m., CT.
TCU Notables
TCU started spring break at the East Meets West Challenge at the Manhattan Beach Pier where the team faced four of the top five ranked teams in the country. The Frogs dropped all four matches but were able to nab a point against Hawaii and Pepperdine. The pairing of Avery Arellano and Hailey Brockett each picked up wins over the weekend to move to six wins on the season. Taylor Bradley and Molly Scheel lead the way for the Frogs with seven wins on the season.
The Competition
Pepperdine went 2-2 over the weekend at the East Meets West Challenge with victories over TCU (4-1) and FIU (3-2), but dropped matches to Florida State (4-1) and LSU (3-2). The waves have victories over five ranked opponents with four pairs leading the way with five wins a piece. Brook Bauer and Heidi Dyer have five wins at the No. 1 spot, while Gigi Hernandez and Deahna Kraft have five wins on court two. Maddie Dilfer and Alexis Filippone have picked up all five of their wins on court four with Nikki Lyons and Katie Gavin getting their wins on court five. The Frogs are 0-4 versus the Waves in program history.
LMU pulls in a No. 13 ranking in the AVCA poll this week and has only dropped one match this season to USC (4-1). Four of the five victories this season by the Lions have come in sweeps including the last two straight wins against CSUN and Vanguard. The pair of Sara Kovac and Jessie Prichard are undefeated on the season at the No. 4 position for LMU.
