TCU Earns First Conference Wins at Home Opener

FORT WORTH, Texas – The TCU beach volleyball team picked up its first two CCSA conference wins Friday by beating No. 17 Tulane, 4-1, and No. 16 Georgia State, 3-2, on day one of the Horned Frogs Challenge at the TCU Beach Volleyball Courts in Fort Worth.

The Horned Frogs (4-2) pushed Georgia State (3-3) early in the match and took the first two matches. The court five pair of Hailey Brockett and Avery Arellano led the way by beating Maddie Gordon and Becky Tresham, 21-17, 21-14. The Panthers were not easily put down, as they won their matches between the first and third pairs. The dual came down to the third set on court two. Molly Scheel and Taylor Bradley went back-and-forth with the GSU pairing of Maddy Delmonte and Olivia Stasevich. Tied at 13-13, the Frogs won the final two points to win TCU's first ever conference game.

Eyeing their second conference win, the Frogs jumped out on Tulane (1-5) much like they did GSU earlier. TCU took a 2-0 lead into the matches between the top pairings, but this lead quickly moved to 4-0 as the Frogs won the matches between the second and third pairs. Victoria McDonald and Jaelyn Greene forced a third set on court one but were unable to take it, falling short by a score of 15-11.

TCU will face Grand Canyon at 10:00 a.m., and Missouri State at 4:00 p.m., tomorrow on the final day of action at the Horned Frogs Challenge.
