STILLWATER, Okla. – Jordan Moore posted a season-high 26 points along with nine rebounds but it wasn't enough as the TCU women's basketball team dropped its Big 12 road-opener, 75-71, at Oklahoma State on Sunday at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
TCU (11-2, 1-1) was able to overcome an 18-point first-half deficit to tie the game in the fourth quarter, but the Cowgirls (10-3, 1-1) out-rebounded the Frogs, 40-31, and hit enough free throws down the stretch to pull out the victory.
THE RUNDOWN
The Frogs trailed by as many as 18 in the first half before a 9-0 run near the end of the second quarter cut the OSU advantage to single digits.
TCU headed into the locker room trailing for just the second time this season, down 40-31 at the break.
The Horned Frogs weren't going to go down without a fight, however, clawing their way back to within three by the end of the third quarter and actually taking the lead on a Kianna Ray jumper at the 7:28 mark of the fourth.
The score remained within two points for the next several minutes until the Cowgirls broke a 62-62 deadlock with a 10-3 run to seal their first conference win of the year.
Vivian Gray led OSU with a game-high 27 points, including 11 at the free-throw line.
Lauren Heard joined Moore in double-digits for TCU, finishing with 11 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals.
STAT OF THE GAME
26 – Jordan Moore poured in a season-high 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting, tying for the second-highest scoring total of her career and finishing two points off of her personal-best. She also added nine rebounds, three blocks and a steal in the contest.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
TCU Head Coach Raegan Pebley
"Today was a great game, especially for fans to watch. It was a very physical game for both teams. It's tough to win on the road in this league. We are going to keep fighting to get better at it. I think (Oklahoma State) just did a really good job of being able to finish some tough shots and we gave them too many uncontested shots, especially in that second quarter."
UP NEXT
TCU will remain on the road when it travels to Ames, Iowa, on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. contest against No. 25 Iowa State.
