TCU is 2-0 to start a season for the third straight year.
FORT WORTH – Yazmeen Ryan's goal in the 62nd minute stood up as the game-winner as TCU improved to 2-0 on the year with a 1-0 victory over McNeese State on Sunday afternoon. Katie Lund and Emily Alvarado combined to make four saves in recording TCU's second straight shutout.
The Rundown
TCU set the pace for the game from the opening minutes, holding a 7-3 advantage in shots in the first half and a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. The Horned Frogs forced McNeese State goalkeeper Emma Roccaforte to make three high-quality saves to keep the game scoreless through the first half.
Messiah Bright had TCU's best look in the half. Tara Smith fed the ball from the right side right to the foot of Bright, but Roccaforte was there for the diving stop. Katie Lund made two stops of her own in the half, including a save on a point-blank shot from Morgan Middleton in the 32nd minute.
TCU pumped 14 shots towards goal in the second half and earned six corner kicks. The Frogs were able to capitalize in the 62nd minute on a goal from Yazmeen Ryan. McNeese State was whistled for a foul about 28 yards from goal. Ryan's free kick was on target as it bounced across the goal line off the hands of a diving Roccaforte.
The Frogs had more chances to extend their lead, but Roccaforte made five stops and was aided by a shot that hit the post and one that hit the crossbar.

Quotes of the Game
Head Coach Eric Bell
On the game:
"Overall, it's always good to get a win in college soccer. McNeese State fought hard throughout the game, so credit to them. I thought our quality showed throughout the game. We created a bunch of chances. So for me, we played well, we scored and we created chances so that bodes well for us. We will work on the finishing stuff, that will come, but if we hadn't created as many chances I would be concerned. But for right now, we've created a ton of chances. I thought their goalkeeper made a lot of good saves and kept the game closer than it probably was."
