
Frogs Fall by Close Margin in Round 1

The Rundown
In Fences, Jayme Omand and Raegan Rast earned their points for the Purple, but TCU ultimately fell 3-2 to OSU. Omand earned a 151 for her ride on Fats, and Rast had a 153 on Cassanova.
In Horsemanship, the Frogs nearly swept the Cowgirls, 4-1. Elizabeth Bohn, Cydney Benes, Josie Mootz and Laska Anderson all earned their points. It seemed Jamie Cook had earned the sweep, but ultimately fell to Harley Huff's 151.5 on Bentley.
In Reining, Elena Hurd earned the lone point for the Frogs with a score of 142. Josie Ferrante seemed to have earned her point but fell by half a point to OSU's Ebba Lange, 143-142.5.
On the Flat, Jayme Omand and Emelie Burgess both earned their points against the Cowgirls. Omand won her point against Hannah Janson, 166-163. Emelie Burgess earned her point against Katie Jones, 171-158; a margin of 13.
Swift Start Against Baylor
The Frogs began the second round with half a meet against the Bears. The Frogs finished Horsemanship and Flat with a 7-3 lead.
In Horsemanship, the Frogs went 4-1, with Benes, Anderson, Cook, and Mootz all earning their respective points. Cook had an impressive showing, earning her point 153.5-150 against Clara Johnson. Mootz also finished well, going 148.5-145.5 against Charlotte Green. Anderson also finished in style with a score of 155.5 against Kaylee Mellott's 151.5.
On the Flat, the Frogs went 3-2. Omand scored her third point on the day with a 176-point ride against Rachel Van Allen's 166. Mady Fithian earned her point by a margin of 22, with a 156-134 decision against Madison Day. Carley Barnett had a 150-142 decision against Brittney Mirkov to round out the Frogs points on the Flat.
The Frogs will finish out the meet against Baylor on Saturday. The team with the best record after round-robin play concludes will be named the 2018 Big 12 Champion.
