MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- TCU women's basketball completed the biggest week in the program's recent history with a 76-74 overtime win over No. 15 West Virginia at WVU Coliseum on Saturday evening.
TCU (12-5, 3-3) came back from 18 points down in the third quarter and shocked WVU to grab consecutive wins over ranked teams for just the second time in program history. The Frogs also won in Morgantown for the first time in program history.
Amy Okonkwo scored 16 points, including the game-tying layup in the fourth quarter and the game-winning 3-pointer in overtime. Okonkwo added 12 rebounds for a double-double. Jordan Moore also had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
West Virginia (15-3, 3-3) forced the Frogs into 17 turnovers in the game's first 25 minutes, building an 18-point lead, 49-31, midway through the third quarter. From there, the Frogs committed just seven turnovers and got within 11 points at the end of the third quarter. TCU outscored WVU 21-10 in the fourth quarter to force the overtime.
Defining Moments
The Frogs trailed by 11 points entering the fourth quarter, then Toree Thompson hit a 3-pointer on their first possession of the quarter. One minute later, Jayde Woods and Naomi Davenport, WVU's leading scorer at the time, were called for double technical fouls, fouling Davenport out of the game.
TCU would go on to outscore WVU, 21-10, in the fourth quarter with some clutch baskets along the way. Down 66-64, Amber Ramirez got a tough layup to go, tying the game with just 7.1 seconds remaining. Chania Ray was then fouled on a drive after a timeout and made both free throws for WVU with 5.1 seconds remaining.
On their next possession, Kianna Ray fed Okonkwo inside and she tied the game with 3.2 seconds remaining, sending the game to overtime.
The overtime period was sloppy as the teams combined for seven turnovers, and WVU led by one, 74-73, with less than 30 seconds to go. Lauren Heard then grabbed her second steal of the game and set up the Frogs with one final possession.
Thompson missed a layup with nine seconds to go, but the Frogs forced a held ball fighting for the rebound and had the possession arrow. Kianna Ray inbounded the ball quickly to Okonkwo at the top of the 3-point arc, possibly catching WVU off guard, and Okonkwo buried her only 3-point attempt of the game with 3.4 seconds to go.

"It's hard to play West Virginia, no matter where you are playing them, because they are so well coached and they've got such incredible defense. It's particularly hard to win a game here. I'm just really proud of our team's perseverance and grit. Not just in being down 18, but also being fatigued and tired and finding that extra juice. They dug in and they didn't give up. They continued to fight for each other, and sometimes that turns into a win." - Raegan Pebley
The Frogs have their bye this week before returning home to host Kansas on Saturday. The Frogs avenged an earlier loss to WVU and will look to do the same with Kansas after falling to Jayhawks at Allen Fieldhouse on New Year's Eve.
