
TCU Falls to No. 2 Baylor

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's basketball team couldn't grab its third straight win and fell to No. 2 Baylor, 91-73, on Sunday afternoon at Schollmaier Arena.
Despite the loss, TCU (12-12, 4-9) is in a tie for the sixth and final first-round bye at next month's Big 12 Championships. Baylor (24-2, 13-1) posted a plus-25 rebound advantage, 55-30, to pull away from the Frogs.
AJ Alix led TCU with 21 points, her third straight 20-point game. Jada Butts added 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Alexis Prince led Baylor with 19 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
As part of its rebounding advantage, Baylor grabbed 23 offensive boards and scored 29 second-chance points, with TCU scoring just nine second-chance points.
TCU missed its first 10 3-pointers and went on to make just 17 percent (4-of-24) while Baylor made 9-of-21. The Frogs were 20-of-37 (54 percent) inside the arc, but couldn't overcome the rebounding deficit and a few defensive lapses as Baylor shot 43 percent (33-of-76) for the game.
Defining Moments
After trailing by 12 points at halftime, TCU got within single digits six times in the third and fourth quarter, but in all six cases Baylor scored on its next possession to answer any TCU momentum.
The last instance came early in the fourth quarter. Amy Okonkwo hit a 3-pointer on TCU's first possession, cutting the Baylor lead to 63-55. However, from there Baylor scored on three straight possessions for a 7-0 run that put the Lady Bears up by 15 points, 70-55. TCU would only get as close as 13 points the remainder of the game.
Stat of the Game
21 -- AJ Alix scored 21 points, her third straight game with 20 or more. She becomes the first Frog with three straight 20-point games since Zahna Medley did so in the final two games of the 2013-14 season and the first game of the 2014-15 season.

TCU will travel to take on Oklahoma State on Wednesday. The Cowgirls have lost five straight games and sit one game behind TCU in the Big 12 standings. The game will tip at 6 p.m. and air on FOX Sports Oklahoma.
