FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's and women's tennis programs were each ranked in the top-25 of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) final poll as released on Tuesday afternoon.
Fresh off a final four run, the men's program finished No. 4 in the country, which is the team's highest finish since 1996. The women's program made their 16th appearance in program history in the NCAA tournament and finished ranked No. 17, which is tied for the second highest finish in program history.
The Horned Frogs are one of just 15 schools in the country with both of its men's and women's programs ranked inside the top-25. This also marks the 10th time in program history that both teams finished within the top-25.
"To start at No. 45 in January and end at No. 17 in May is such a testimony to the senior leadership we had, and also a great encouragement to the future of the program for our other team members," TCU women's head coach Lee Taylor Walker said. "Being a part of TCU tennis this year with Coach Roditi was something very special. Our men's and women's teams formed a close bond with one another and the belief and expectations increased month to month.
"Our coaching staff, support staff and current and future players know that this is just the beginning, and that we still have another year of laying a rock solid foundation for a world-class program. I want to thank everyone who made the transition for Ben (Stapp) and myself so enjoyable. We are looking forward to many fun and exciting years here at TCU."
Under the direction of fifth-year head coach David Roditi, the TCU men returned to the Final Four for the fourth time in program history and came just one point short of making its first final in program history. The Frogs are one of five Big 12 schools in the top 25 and one of four league schools in the top 10. TCU finished with a 25-8 overall record, which marks the most wins since 1995. Freshman Cameron Norrie also became the 22nd player in program history and second freshman to earn All-America honors in the singles bracket after a run to the Elite 8.
The TCU women's team had many firsts in the 2015 season in Walker's debut campaign at the helm of the program. The Frogs finished with a 19-9 overall record, the most wins since 1998, and competed in the NCAA Championships for the 16th time in program history and 10th time in the last 12 seasons. A second place finish in the Big 12 Conference marked the team's highest finish since joining the league in 2012. The team also defeated Texas A&M for the first time since 2009 and qualified for the ITA National Team Indoor Championship for the first time since 2007.
