FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's tennis team had a singles player and doubles team advance to the quarterfinals this past week at the USTA/ITA Texas Regional Championships hosted by Rice in Houston, Texas at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
Nationally ranked at No. 19 and seeded second in the tournament, Guillermo Nuñez won his opening two matches in straight sets, before grinding out a 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 victory over Jacob Hansen of Rice to make his way into the quarterfinals. Nuñez's luck would run out, as Nate Lammons of SMU was able to upset the sophomore, 6-4, 6-1, to end his time in the tournament.
In the doubles side of the tournament, Hudson Blake and Reese Stalder paired up for the first time this fall season and were able to make a run to the quarterfinals. The duo downed Connor Curry and Carlos DeLaura of Texas Tech, 8-5, before defeating Oscar Janglin and Kevin Lam of Texas A&M, 8-4, in the Round of 16. The pair would be stopped short of advancing through into the next round as Hunter Johnson and Yates Johnson of SMU pulled out an 8-4 victory.

By claiming a title at the Oracle/ITA Masters, Cameron Norrie automatically advances to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., on Nov. 12-15. TCU will wait to see if they will earn any wildcard or at-large bids into the tournament, which will be announced at a later date.
